Go to this link it says that the towing capacity is 1000lbs. Why would you want to tow with an Aurora anyways man it's a luxury car not a pickup you can do whatever with. http://www.wnep.com/global/story.asp?s=2590611

im moving to IL from MD and I need to tow a small trailor so that I can bring my stuff with me cause that would cut the cost by $1000

That's a pretty long haul. Don't push the Aurora over it's limits, I mean it's a great car but it is not meant for that kind of stuff.

i' ve seen an aurora hauling one of those streamline campers with no effort i think It can do it. Besides Im not hauling 5 tons only like a few things with a 5X7 uhaul trailer

Well I trust Oldsmobiles quite a lot. You'll be fine. Hope you have a nice trip.

1000 pounds, 10% tongue weight, pull more than that your putting excessive wear on the drive train, the worst being the transmission. WATCh your acceleration rates, take it easy, steep hills don't give it balls to the wall if you care about reliability in the future.

After the hills though you should be fine. I mean I drove to IL from Canton OH and there were no hills. Be careful and safe. Post again when you get there.

I have a 98' that I use to tow my boat with. I do not use it but every other weekend but when I do it works great!
My boat is approx 2000 lbs including trailer. This car has plenty of power to handle this, I would just keep it in 3rd so your rpm's are high (Less wear on tranny) and turn your power shift on.
My only complaint would be the poor gas mileage, its not real bad but definately a noticable difference.
Good luck

well im here in IL I hauled the trailer with no problem up and down mountains. but gas mileage was horrible especially with the prices only 15 mpg.

Well it's nice to hear that you made it. Yeah it probably cost an arm and a leg getting out there. That's why I bought my 95 Saturn. That thing gets nearly 40 mpg and with me going to college I need to save all the money I can.

Thats some bad mileage, almost a 50% hit, but it was probally cheaper then renting a moving truck and towing the Aurora.

Im ready to sell my 81 dodge pickup with new tires new (not used) leaf springs with 2 extra springs to make it 3/4 ton in the rear 225 slant six and 4 speed overdrive transmission. It gets 18-20 mpg. Has a vinyl interior and even gets am lol. It made me a great moving truck it even has a cap. It beats putting wear and tear on your vehicle
