Got some flows....

Well... i got the american thunder catback yesterday. KC, don't be mad, i know i kept saying that i was going with magnaflow, which i still will, but i bought the entire catback from a friend in very good shape, for $100. I really couldn't pass it up. My questions is, do catbacks give improvement in hp/tq numbers? Even if its 5-10hp. Just curious.

The better an engine can breath the better it will perform. And yeah there'd be some hp gain as a result.

Oh, on a side note, I'm kicking myself in the rear because I went to a car show last weekend and there was a 91 RS that had every remaining toy on it I want (mostly centrifigal s/c), but I didn't take my camera. Owner fabbed up one off headers that were pretty nice. Plugs were a lot easier to get to than the TES and didn't make the funky rear bends of hookers but of course not emissions legal, oops.

Oh, and I do understand the V6 guys compalints about Flowmasters. But honestly, like the TES headers, for V8's they are the best bang for your buck. What muffler and pipe diameter did you get?

It's 3in. piping with a 80 series muffler i believe. Supercharger, damn that is nice. Must be wondering to have money. I wonder if i could find a used supercharger. Btw, i heard a 95 3.4 with a flowmaster setup, and it did sound really bad. But i heard one on an 8, convinced me to buy.

thats weird i hop on here right after getting home from getting an 80 series put on and the first post i see is about getting a flowmaster. I think you'll like it a lot. A lot of people were saying they didnt like flowmaster, but i think it sounds great.

i hope is sounds really good.

It's loud, but not obnoxiously, hell the other night I heard the radio blaring before I heard the car when my wife was driving a couple blocks away.

It's weird if you're like 1/2 throttling it's notably throatier than stock. But when you lay on it WOT, it's like you don't have a muffler at all. Pretty cool actually. Lot better than the glasspack days.

That is a $100 towards a good flowing exhaust. :icon16:

Yeah, just finished about an hour ago. The hardest part was getting the pipe at the crossover the hook up on both sides. It sounds really good, especially at wot, it's rediciulous(sp), no too loud but loud enough. Felt alittle quicker too. I'm tired.

Well my plans were ruined.. couldnt find my mom's truck keys that I have, so no money atleast I figured out whats going on with my radio, seems I blew out a fuse so I got some more and without any money I cant fill up on gas as im almost out so I didnt go cruising.. :(

Atleast I beat a stupid Civic. Funny stuff, I was going fast cause thats what I do, this Honda was infront of me and decided not to move so I did, then he decided to be an asshole and hit the gas, but no match for me going WOT. funniest thing, never heard a Civic try so hard and not go anywhere, well it happend. and I was laughing, then he tried to do a racer flyby, stopped that too. so Civic = :owned:

Also as soon as he was going onto the ramp to the highway I yelled out "TOO SLOW" and he looked at me. :lol:

I believe i'll get some races 2morrow. The Dominican festival is going on, and all the hondas are out and about. With the pipes installed an the tires sticking out like fatboys, i'm sure to get someone to bite. Did i already say cars sounds awesome at WOT?

I need to get some friends that will sell me car parts.... Im torn between flowmasters or just leave the stock muffler and get a cut out. My car has 3 in. pipes all the way back and that was factory. The guy before me improved the flow at the engine with headers and intake runners but not the exhaust and not the intake. How restrictive is the stock intake lid? All that air has to go through that skinny little tube I would think it would be. Anyways im liking the cutout cuz then I could ride in to home at some hour of the morning and be real quiet about it. But I do like me some flowmasters.

Yeah the car really likes them. Every time i hit the gas, she just screams, telling me shes wants more. They do sound really good though. Everybody loves them, especially neighbors.

Eh, screw you, I want some exhaust. :mad:

But for now my damn Monte Carlo sounds good all motor. No muffler can stop the sound of my engine. :)
