My 2000 Ford Focus ZTS is suddenly having major porblems. I'll be driving and suddenly there will be static behind whatever is playing on the radio. At the same time, one or more of the various lights in my dash panel will come on. I have had the ABS light, the brake light, the transmission/coolant system light and various others come on. Then if I tap my brake, the entire car shuts down. No brake lights, no hazzard lights, nothing electrical works. Fortunatly my steering and brakes still work. Then my car will either start again right away, without me even touching the key, or I will have to sit with the key off for up to ten minutes and then the car will start again.
The first time this happened, two weeks ago, they warrantied out my battery and I got a brand new one. Two weeks later, yesterday, it has started happening again, and the battery has very little charge.
The mechanic at the Ford dealer can find nothing wrong with my car, except for the low charge on the battery. He told me it could be the alternator or the processor going out, but because he couldn't prove it, he won't do anything with the car. I'm scared to drive it now!
Any suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance!

Sounds like something might be an exposed wire that is grounding out on some part of the metal framework. There is a 12v constant current wire that runs to your radio head unit and if thats exposed and rubbing on metal it would cause a short and also drain the battery. I would have someone at Ford or someone you trust that knows electrical look at the wiring in the steering column and behind your head unit to see if there is any shorts or exposed wires
