My friend is being charged $1,000.00 for a new clutch for his 1998 Mustang GT at a local dealership. We think that is way too much. Does anyone have any experience/advice? Thanks in advance.

that is way to much, you should be able to get the clutch for 250-300 plus a couple of hours to put it in

That is what I thought, I am going to talk to my friend and try to get more information about his situation. Maybe there is something he isn't telling me. Otherwise, I will tell him to take it elseware!

we normally charge $350 labor on the 4.6 engine
the clutch we use is a luk clutch with lifetime warranty for $159.99
resurface the flywheel $30.00 , shop supplies $20.00
your total $576.53 , a thousand is a little pricey

Take it somewhere else....ain't no way your friend should pay 1G for a damn clutch. Try right around the neighborhood of what poorboys said, $575. I have people who have paid even as low as $450 for install and warranty!

Final Word: Shop Around.
