Leaving for the DSM Shootout! If anyone from here is going, I'm at the Econolodge, stop in for a beer if you can find me (shaved head, white EVO, on a trailer behind a red ford). Otherwise, I'll be back monday night. Hopefully I don't break :icon16:

Well, now that I'm back and I've recovered, I might as well post an update. It was a good time as usual. After getting completely crap faced on friday night and sleeping away most of saturdays car show/dyno day at Buschurs I decided to make it a sober shootout from that point on :D

The trip out was uneventful. Trailered the EVO behind a 1 ton diesel just to keep the mileage off it, wasn't really expecting to break. Got there around 7 pm on friday, ate, and got hammered and offended several poeple.

Saturday, couldnt get on the Dyno since I got there late.

Sunday, rained most of the day. Luckily I got there early and got in 3 or 4 time trials before noontime. Just when the got the track dried off around 2-3 it rained like a bastard again. Since the event is usually over by this time, and we hadn't even started one round of eliminations yet, half the poeple packed it up and took off. Pussies :D The Norwalk Raceway Park crew pulled off the impossible and got the track dried off yet again. Racing resumed around 5pm!

I had been down on power all day, with a best trap speed of 109.85, and a best ET of 12.57 on a 108 mph pass. Traps dropped down to 107 by the end of the day. None of this matters anyway, since I got lined up against Kevin Lawson in the Buschur EVO in the first round. The car has run 11.2 at 120, but still qualifies for EVO Stock Appearing. I was hoping he'd screw up, but Kevin to experienced a driver. I did baaarely get him at the tree with a .485 to his .486 and 60 footed him with a 1.781, but at the 330' he already owned me by .2 seconds. That car moves! He ran an 11.8 at 118 to my 12.8 at 107. He went on to win the class, so no one else could beat him either. Makes me feel better :D I knew I'd have to drive the hell out of the car to have a chance, and that was the hardest I've launched it yet. 6000 rpm on a quarter throttle stutter (stock clutch sucks), and just dropped it. Got a little sideways out of the hole. I did the best I could, and I'm happy with that. Now its off to the track tonight to figure out where all my trap speed is hiding.

I talked to Kevin and Dave B after that run, cool guy. I tried to peek over Daves shoulder at thier AEM log from that run, but couldn't see anything good :D I also thanked them for taking me out in the second round of Quick 16 at the Summit Sport Compact Nationals in 03 when I got lined up against the 8-9 second conquest. I told dave he laughed when he looked back to see who they were lined up against, and he didn't believe me, LMAO.

Shep made an exhibition pass at 8.59 @ 172 mph, but did not compete, to give others a chance at winning (no one there could really "compete" with him anyway). I thought that was a real stand up move on his part. To see that car go in person is quite an experience! Worth the trip in itself. Absolutely sick.

The ride back was long. I'm getting too old for this shit. :)

363 days till SO 06 ;)

Is that Buschur Evo Black? Cause a couple of weeks ago i went to a dragstrip called dragway 42 in Ohio near Buschur Racing and Buschur had brought down a black evo. That thing was amazing! He got into the 11s on a couple of passes and i was talking to the guy and he told me it wasnt running well that day lol.

I think Daves brother drives that car, and it put down well over 500 whp on BR's low reading Mustang Dyno. I do believe it has run 10s, but I can't be sure. The one I raced was the white one that is well modded but not so much to disqualify it from the stock appearing class. It runs Buschurs new EVO turbo that uses all of the stock housings (but has something similar to a 20g wheel in it). Best time on that car is 11.2 or 3 at 120. White with gray or black graphics IIRC.

I wish I lives a little closer to Ohio. I know poeple have thier issues with Buschur, but the more I talk to those gusy the more I like them... :D

Got a pic of your car Kevin, as long as it was the one with the number on the front pass window, otherwise it was the only other white RS. Speaking of which, what takes that stuff off easily?

Here is a quick pic.

Kevin if you or anyone wants the full size, IM me at TsiTalon9587.

Here is a link to a crappy digi cam video. I still haven't found that firewire cable, so no high res video as of yet.

Yup, thats my car :) I keep a bottle of alcohol or nail polish remover (watch the paint!) and some cotton balls to remove those numbers. The local track has switched over to a dry-erase type of marker recently, which wipes off with a dry rag. Much better :)
