Steering makes a clicking sound?

Hello. This is my first post here on AutomotiveForums.com. I'd like to ask a question:
When I turn the wheel all the way to one side to make a sharp turn on my 92 Crown Vic, there is a constant (and very loud) clicking sound coming from under front end of the car. It sounds like something under there is about to snap!
It does this every time.
Does anyone have any idea what could be the cause of this? Someone said it's my ball joints. Could that be the problem? How much do you estimate it would cost to get it fixed at a mechanic?
Thanks.

Is it a "clicking" or more of a metal banging metal sound? If it is a banging sound, look at the steering stops(where the spindle touches the lower control arm)and see if there are clean spots on the control arm. If so, put some grease on the lower control arm and try again. There is nothing under there that would "click" unless it is the stadilizer bar links.
