I want to import an R32 or S15 Silvia for show use only but i have a question concerning this. Theres a list that shows the cars that are approved to by the gov't to be imported for show or display use only, the S15 and R32 aren't on it, in fact theres also a list of disapproved cars and the 95 R33 is on it. My question is how do people import them for show use only yet according to the gov't the cars are not elidgble?
I've seen more than a hand full at shows yet i don't know the've done it.

unless its being backed by a company, the cars cant be brought in for show use. and with the car in for show use, it can only be in the country for a total of six (count em...6) months. there are specific requirements as to bringing a car in for show use.....it must be of a technilogical significance and/or be a limited run car. the 400R could probably be brought in, and a Tommy Kaira R can be brought in, but thats it. the s15 and skylines do not have a technilogical/historical significance enough to bring the car in for show use.
alot of the cars your thinking of are either....in on race use from japan (such as the d1 cars, formula drift, southern fried slide etc...) or they are just very good conversions.

Integra's and Civic's are simpler... I have friends that will buy SiRII EG Hatchbacks from Japan, buy a trashed 1992 CX Hatchback shell for about $100. Restore the CX's body, and swap the guts from the SiRII onto the CX.
So now, you've an SiRII Hatchback, legal in the states... Which is technically a 1992 CX Civic. That's why it's so easy for us Honda guys.
Skyline... It's a bit more in depth.
