i want to import a S15 for show use only cause i don't really care about driving it around on the street, but i have a question about this. i have heard that only cars on an approved list made by the government car be imported for show or display purposes only. The S15 is not on that list. My question is how do people import the S15 for show if its not on the list?
I've seen lots of them at shows and at some shops but i've never figured out how they did it and when I ask the owners they don't want to say for some reason.
How do they import them?

When you own a shop, answers will come easily.

i dont even understand why people want to buy a car for show purpose only. much less do i understand how to import a car for show purpose. you should call up DOTor someplace and ask them the exact laws on it

yeah i don't agree with this whole show thing.. the silvia wasn't made to show, its a supercar just like the skyline; they were made to drive and smoke honda ass.. but yeah there aren't many ways around it.. you pretty much have to be the owner of a successful shop to even think about getting an s15 legally into america

If you ever import a silvia, make it a track car. At the show you will get a lot of respect for that, more than for having CF body kit and a lowering kit. Having a car with pieces of rubber on the body, or other little things from hard core racing is priceless I think. As logic23 said about one of the cars "it has drifting scars" well I think that make the car look good in its own way.

there was one kid... his sn resembling "wide body s15" or something to that effect... who somehow managed to get one. Try and search him up and contact him. If it's just for show... buy a honda or the new eclipse.. that's what it's made for... to be riced out. Plenty of dress up parts and tons of pretty make-up for those panties out there.

If you spend the money to import a car/buy it, do what the hell you want with it.

He won't answer any pm's and he said his S15 was Street Legal. But yeah now that you mention it I think that an S15 with Drift scars would look better then an expesive Veilside body kit. Is it easyer(sorry for the crappy spelling) to bring one in for racing and if i brought one over would i have to ship it back in six months? i have heard of people have ing their R32's S15's permenantly.
www.adrenalinexxx.com their skyline is hear all the time, year round.

by ship, or airplane ...
U can ship any car over, BUT, u can’t drive anything on public streets unless it’s DOT approved. S15 is not DOT approved.

You can't ship any car over, they won't let it in the country, usually, if it's not supposed to be here, they send it back or cut it in half.

U can ship anything bro… pay for the shipping and at the docks, pay for the fees and the car is “yours”. U can’t drive it on the streets, u need to have a permit saying it’s a “company car, OFF ROAD USE ONLLY” u will pay for bunch of taxes and fill bunch of paper work. and the car must be towed to the location that u want it to be at, u can't drive it on the streets.
Bottom line, its all about $, as always!

They won't let the car in the country. It would be to easy to just drive the car on the street, there are rules about this, it's a 6 month paperwork process and you need a special license to even have it leave the docks. Even Panda Garage who import's engine-less cars needs to bring them under a special license thing that says they are only for parts and can not be modified to be drivien on the streets.

lol this guy i know imported a Dance Dance Revolution machine and it got stuck in customs for like 9 months (he said it was all the paperwork). if i ran the docks here at america i would toss all the DDR machines in the ocean and steal all the show car nissans that come in.

just move to japan...
then maybe in a few years you'll spend 5 million Yen to "import" a corvette or something b/c it's the "cool" thing to do.
Doesn't that sound stupid? well that's what everyone else is thinking.. japan, europe, australia, hong kong, etc... when we try to import silvia's for who knows how much.
