Well after 2 months of owning my 94 Jimmy and buying it for $2,000 and spending a little over $1800 in repairs alone just to keep it on the road, and needing about another $1000-$1500 to get it running right, I finally got rid of it today. Needless to say I am very proud to say I now longer own it, as it was nothing but a mechanic's dream vehicle, as they could make a living off of it only. After the problems I have had and after reading just about every post about Jimmy's and Blazer's, I have only opinion and that is that the 92-94 Jimmy's and Blazer's with the 4.3L Vortec Motor(engine code W) are nothing but crap. I do strongly believe that those with the 4.3L throttle body motor are good vehicles. That is of course my own personal opinion, however I do urge anyone reading this who is thinking about buying a 92-94 Jimmy/Blazer with the Vortec motor to be extremely careful. Also I do wish to thank everyone is this forum who helped me out and for their advice, as it has been very useful, and did save me money on having to take it to a shop to locate every problem, so THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
P.S. If anybody is wondering I traded my Jimmy in for a 94 Nissan Altima GXE with 139,600. Particlular American cars are good vehicles, however in general I have always had better luck with Foreign made vehicles and do believe they are built alot better, however once again that is my own personal opinion, and I do not mean to cause any problems with anyone this post, as this forum has definately been good for me, and I may end up having to use it again in the future at a later date and don't want to make enemies.

I don't know about your personal experinces with your Jimmy, but for some of us that have a Jimmy between the years of 92 and 94 with the 4.3L W motor Know that the is great. The only real problem is the CPI unit, and if you replace it when you relize that you are having a problem you will save yourself alot of money.
As for your post this forum is for people who need with their Jimmy/Blazer, not for people to whine about not knowing how or taking time to learn how to work on their own truck.
And I hope your happy with your foreign thing I prefer to support the US and buy AMERICAN made cars and trucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well for your info know how to work on Jimmy's/Blazer's. As far as the CPI being the only big problem, there is other big flaws in the 92-94 Vortec motor and that includes the nut kit, fuel pump, and EGR valve. Yes the motor is a great motor for someone who is rich and can afford to repair it every time you turn around even though normal mantainence is performed like clock work. If you add the price of CPI/Nut kit, EGR Valve, and fuel pump all togather, thats over $1000, and for if you ask me spending $15,000 in repairs just to keep it on the road alone in 12 years, plus performing normal maintenance per owner manual guidlines, and still not have the vehicle running like it should is not a quality vehicle to rely on. For someone that doesn't mind working on it atleast monthly, along with can afford to spend an arm and a leg to keep it running, its a good motor. Its a no wonder why 4 seperate mechanics along with the local chevy dealer all said that GM should have issued a recall on the CPI/nut kit, EGR Valve, and fuel pump.

Like I said that the CPI is a main problem with the motor, as for the fuel pump my Jimmy has over 220,000 on it and has had the fuel pump changed once. The EGR valve is still the orignal. For the record and your info Fuel Pump $120, CPI $320, Nut kit $66, EGR Valve $110, for a grand total of $616 not over $1000 but under $1000. If I am thinking right which I am my Jimmy is a 1993 and it is 2005 now, my brother bought it new. He never had a problem with it till the fuel pump went out in 2004 then the CPI and nut kit started leaking(after he poured gas in the intake) that is when it had 200,000 miles on it. After replacing that stuff and CLEANING the EGR valve it runs great.
So I really do not know what you problem is with a good truck. Maybe it is the way you drive, by looking at your other post that might be more of the problem.
As for other problems all you complain about is the fuel system and as far as this Mechanic says the 4.3L is a good motor, and it sounds like you bought that truck as a project and you just gave up on it because it got to complicated. So you gave up on the truck it didn't give up on you.
The funny thing it that my wife drives this truck to and from work and has never had a problem with it (I get to drive it on the weekends).
By the way get your facts straight!

I dont know where you're getting your pricing from but a new EGR valve for the 94 Jimmy I had would have been a $350 for EGR, $400 CPI, $100 Nut kit, $150 for fuel pump with fuel pulsator. The original owner of the Jimmy I had(one owner before me) had spent over $14000 in repairs to keep it on the road. As far as my driving habbits, I hardly ever did fast take-offs, fast breaking, no accidents in it, or any other rough form of driving. Maybe you got a lucky vehicle out of them, but its amazing that 4 mechanics and Granite City Weber Chevrolet all agree's the items I listed in the last post should have had recalls issued. So if there isnt no problem with anything but the CPI Unit than why would a dealer say that?

and I bought it at the Chevy dealer Look it up Bill Roberts Cheverolet in Bolivar, Mo it cost me $66 and some change.
and I here if you look on E-Bay you can get the CPI for around $100.
Where did you get your prices? Did you get ripped?

It is showing a cheaper price on Autozone's website for a 93 Jimmy, however mine is a 94 Jimmy and different prices are listed. Also remember that there are several different EGR Valves made for the Jimmy's/Blazers. As far as where I bought my parts at, I bought them at Advance Auto Parts. They may not equal $1000 for your vehicle but for the 94 Jimmy 4.3L Vortec(w engine code) 4x4 it did cost an arm and a leg. If you do not believe it, I'll be more than happy to dig reciepts out for that vehicle and you may come by my house and I'll show you reciepts from all repairs done by me and the previous owner which was a long time friend of the family. He got rid of it because after all the work he did, it still wouldnt run right. I than bought it, and after $1800 in work in two months, and the vehicle still not running right, I was not about to see how much it would take. If you call $15k worth of work to keep the vehicle on the road even though it was not abused, and had all normal mantainence performed like clock work, than you have something else coming. Also considering that even Granite City Weber Chevrolet, which the they Chevy Dealer in my town, that I even had them look it over one time, and talked to them and was told that the CPI/Nut kit, the EGR Valve, and Fuel Pump should have all been recalled by the GM Corporation, that is all the evidence I need that the vehicle has multiple problems that happen on alot of the vehicles, and that they are nothing but money-pits. I would rather spend more money to purchase a foreign made vehicle, and support a foreign country, and have a reliable vehicle, than spend less money to purchase the vehicle and support the US and have a vehicle that won't stay running and your entire paycheck every 2 weeks go to repairing it.

I can see talking to you, you cant see the facts that have been put out for you (like the words directly off the web site FUEL INJECTOR for a
1994 GMC TRUCK S15 JIMMY 4WD) so I am done on this post because my kids (3 and 6 year olds) can see the facts when they are wrote out in English and put in front of them.
So you have fun taking you foreign thing to the shop and spending alot moe money on it.
I am an American, so I buy and drive American products PROUDLY.
If there is anyone looking at this post I stated and supported the fact that I put out. If you have any questions about the CPI or Nut kit you can E-Mail me or just do a search on the forum and see the facts that have been posted in the past. They are really helpful for someone that has no experince working on their own car.
I also apoligize to everyone for taking up space trying to show someone the facts when they don't have the ability to comprehend what is right in front of them.
WOW I can't belive it!! :screwy: :banghead:

Tell you what, you can support your Jimmy, and you can defend them all they want, but appearantly you believe that spending $15000 in repairs to keep a vehicle on the road is normal. I sure do feel sorry for you. As already stated if you do not believe the parts cost that much, I am more than willing to show them to you. Also just for anyone reading this, Autozone does not stand behind any of their items they sell, and that any mechanical item they sell is not worth it, save yourself the time and hassle and just go to some other part store to begin with.

I'm not saying that you can not order cheaper parts offline, but than again you have to remember to add in shipping charges, plus lets not forget that not everyone can leave their vehicle down that long. Some people do that jobs they have to work, along with some people only have the one vehicle. If you have a second vehicle, or don't have a job, and can afford to let your vehicle be down for a week. Let me guess though, your going to tell me now that if you order the parts offline there will be no shipping charges and they will arrive the same day?

No they normaly ship things over night, and the shipping chages are not as much as you will save. Plus if you are smart you don't pull your only vehicle apart before you get the part that you need.
As far as the parts that you get from AutoZone they are better than the parts that you get from most any other part store. I am sorry that you go ripped off when you went to buy parts but you don't have to take it out on on the quality truck that you gave up on.
I think that unless I am wrong about the people on this site they will agree with me too :screwy: :banghead: .
