Installing a new radio in a 2004??????

Does anyone know about the radio system in 2004 GP? I've been told that you can't put an aftermarket radio in it because the airbags may blow,,,Is this true????
Mine is a single disc player without Monsoon...

not true. just make sure you unhok the neg power term before you do anything to the stereo (or anything else to the car). i installed one in my '04 and stereo works fine. i have some problems with my remote start alarm, but thats a different issue

Thanks for the tip. I know I will loose the calendar function on the dic, but I wonder if you really have to buy the wiring kit for 100.00 just to have a switched power source and little speaker just to be able to hear the warning chimes???
Could this be done with a regular wiring harness and running a wire from a swithced 12 volt source???? :smokin:

with the potential problems of the computer not logging vehicle issues (the radio is used like a computer 'hub' for the dic and pcm...i wouldn't want to do without the wiring kit i think it actually closes the computer loop without the radio there.

Is it true? If you remove a stock stereo, and try to put it in another car, that it would need the original computer to work? Theft deterant?
