I am not going to mod any of the car.
Should I get a 2002 1.8T w/ 5 speed manual or 2002 3.0 w/ 6 speed manual? Both are with quottro and sport package.
Does the 3.0 worth $5000 more?

According to Audi
1.8T 0-60 is 7.9 sec
3.0 0-60 is 6.9 sec

Performancewise..... what other major different between this two? brakes, suspension and ........

If you don't plan on modding your cars then go for the V6... more torque , more power , more gears , more fun and better reliablity... if you're a good driver and don't floor it all the time then this engine'll run forever...

Brakes and suspension are the same, except for possibly minor strengthening due to the 3.0's higher weight. However, there may be NO real differences.

Performance differences are:
Fuel mileage - 1.8
Fun factor - 1.8
Luxury - 3.0
Mod-ability - 1.8
Insurance cost - toss up
Factory options - 3.0
Standard equip - 3.0 (lots 'o stuff not available on 1.8)
Top-end speed - 3.0
Sheer grunt - 3.0
Standing start power - 3.0
0-60 performance - maybe 1.8 (after the Turbo spools up)
High speed performance - 3.0
Operational smoothness - 3.0
Transmission:
1.8 = 5sp man and CVT
3.0 = 6sp man, CVT, Tiptronic
Upholstery:
1.8 = Cloth or Leatherette
3.0 = Cloth or FULL Leather (2002 only)
Exterior trim:
1.8 = black rubber window moldings
3.0 = aluminum window reveal moldings

That's just a start. You get a helluva lot for the extra $5k. By now, you probably have your new A4. Which one did you get?
