engine dies and won't restart

The car is a '94 1.0 liter with auto transmission. The engine dies
without warning and will not restart 'til it has "rested" for almost
an hour. The days have been very hot and I suspect a heat related
ignition problem. All new spark system wires. Could it be a defective
coil? Starter cranks ok.

Any ideas?
Thanks

i would suspect ignition module. next time it dies pull coil wire out of cap and put it about 1/4" from metal and have someone crank it while you see if there is any spark

several days later.................same problem. Spark for a moment and
then none thereafter. I replaced the coil/igniter and pickup module
with no success! This car has the "upgraded emissions" package or
electronic spark control distributor. Fuel pump?? It runs for several
moments if I "prime" the carb.
Thanks for any info.

I too may be facing a fuel pump problem -- on another post someone checked the connector from the pump and found it to be corroded -- I guess he fixed that and it worked -- Do a search on this forum for fuel pump and you can find it

BTW where did you find a fuel pump for $113?

Thanks, I'll act on your advice (as you could tell I was very frustrated).
BTW..........Google O'Reilly auto parts. I also found a salvaged pump for
$50.00

8 days later......... as it turns out the major problem was
a broken/defective electrical connector on the fuel pump
itself (I blame it on the incompetent tinkerer that last
owned the car)........thanks Crvett69
Darterburn.........I gave you bad info last time, search
for Rockauto
