Rota D2s...

Im gonna be buying some Rota D2s in Gold 17x8.5 +20. My question is what do you guys think of these and Will they fit with no rolling or any problems...I really dont wanna run spacers. What tires should I run on those as well? 225/40?

the black is OK but i didnt really like what i saw of the gold in the pics i could find but maybe the pics dont do it justice. i like more of a matte bronze/magnesium look than actual gold. but whatever its your car!

I was just taking a stab at what size i would need...I wasnt set or even sure a 225 would fit now that i think about that adds like 1 3/5" to my tire size right now and the stock rims are 6" compared to 8.5" I just need to know if theyll fit now im pretty set on getting them. After Orestes comment I think he gave me the perfect reason to give them inbetween the lines.

ahh good choice. I like the gold and the five spoke. I want gold/bronze rims too. Just dont know if i wanna 5-lug the coupe or stay 4. Car should look good when you get those bad boys on. Although i do agree with orestes the black might look better on a white car, but i still like the gold. Either way it will look good.

275 tires seem a little big for an 8.5, prob bulge.. I've got 245 on my 7.5 and they bulge a little, prob fit perfect on an 8.5 rim.

besides, all the cool kids are stretching tires onto wide rims. I think for clearance, and/or autox/drift handling. SLIGHTLY stretched tires doesn't look too bad. It's when you see a 225 on a 9" rim... starts to remind of OG Impalas with 165/50s on a 15" wire wheel and a 2inch white wall. LOL

275 is probably the highest you can go, but don't dip down to 225.. i have 215 on my 6" rim and they barely bulge.. go with 255/265 so that you're guaranteed not to bulge.. either that or go to your local performance store and look for 8.5" rims and see how different sizes look on display..

195 on my 6" Rim buldge....Ok...here we go again my mom is now setup where she gets an email every week on what im doing wiht my money that goes into my savings account! Sooo...no 5-Spd swap until after school ends and I can piece together my turbo kit over the winter...but she wants to go over my financial plans to decide wether or not I can have it! Im in an ongoing battle with this woman. She said she better not see anything over $100 be taken out at once.

255s will bulge on an 8.5 wheel, but they should fit ok

hey man just do what you gotta do. Id buy all the turbo stuff and what not and just let it sit, until you get the 5 speed swap. Atleast you'll have the shit ready. Just take the next ten months and save save save, plus when you graduate im sure you'll get some money from family and friends and what not. You'll have a fat ass sum of cash. Just find an ok job, do whatever for the next ten months. Then she'll see that you have done everything she asked and bam when you graduate you'll have alot of money to spend on whatever.

Everyone always talks about their graduation money, is that like an american thing? When I graduated I got a "Don't fuck up college!" from my dad and a "I'm proud of you" from my mom. Ok, they did pay for my prom suit, but still, that was like 400$.

it sounds like what you need to do is make money that she doesnt know about so you can let your bank account chill and maybe get her approval for small stuff and then with the secret money buy parts and keep them hidden. so i dont know how possible that is in oklahoma but you can try.

Ill have it shipped to friends house if it becomes that big of a deal but..if I order throught the guy who got me my coilovers everything goes to his house or the shops o im set that way. Ill be pieceing together the kit this winter for sure. Ill post pics :D in anticipation.

I dont wanna move out cause right now im 17 and financially that would make it worse on me upgrading my 240...Its my 240 but the title is in her and my name...Im trying to get her to go down to the DMV and change that. My dad was really pissed off that she made me cosign the title. I have a little more respect towards my mom and if I pretty much cut her off and out f my life she would like kill herself probably.

yea lol, my dad gave up his chevelle and nova because of me. Those cars werent baby friendly. But i have a car family, so they dont give two shits if i spend money. My dads out of the scene but i bet he would take any of those old cars back if he had the chance. Of course my mom thinks its dumb, but its just guy stuff as she see's it lol. She would rather me buy clothes and other "usefull" stuff.

Wow SR20DETpower, I must congratulate you that was the most single informative post ive seen you make! that didnt include "LS-1" or "275" or "SR20's arent...". OK, My mom will TAKE MY CAR AWAY. She will probably not hesitate to kick me out of the house. Ive tried the whole "Mom this is my hobby and its something I enjoy/love doing." I told her I wanted to auto-X but then she went into isnt it foolish for your Auto-X car to be your Daily Driver? Then she says "Why do you have to have it now? Why not in 2 years?" I simply told her "Mom I'm a kid can I enjoy my younger years before I have other responsibilities?" She also says I need to save for stuff down the road...like college and a new car. She believes I wont have this car for 2 more years. She also plays the card of save for a rainy day like if you have something horrible go wrong.

Maybe she's hinting that something horrible will happen. Anyways, she's just acting up, if you can't do anything about it now, accept it and think about what you will do when you can do something. If you think you can do something about it then just do it!

really? my 225s on the front of my 89 barely fit under the strut...with maybe a half inch to spare

those are pretty conservative #s though, id go maybe 10 mm higher for each of those sizes

rota is knockoff but some people cant afford all that, but in my opinion fn01rcs are ugly on a 240.

FNs are nice if they have a good offset.

I also have a spot reserved for some Brown or Black with teh lip FN01R-Cs 17x9 +20 or +18 i cant remem.
