Looking to buy either a 4th gen Prelude Si/V-tec or a 300zx twin-turbo.
I really like them both......anyone have any thoughts?

Si does not have VTEC.
But IMO I would definately go with the Z TT.
But IMO I would definately go with the Z TT.

See.... I am a girl and my boyfriend (who has a prelude but likes the Z)
says, "The 300zx is a black man's car", nothing personal but the majority of the time when you see a Z it is most like a middle aged black man driving it (well at least here in Mactown and the A-T-L hahaha). And well I think he is right about seeing a girl driving a Z would be weird but I think the Z has more potential than to be just a cruiser on chromed out "20s. I want a nice powerful car but both cars are......of course the Z is more powerful. But out of any Honda (of normal status) the prelude in my opinion is the best. (and also more girlie, but whatever)

prelude cant even come close to the Z. I'm trying to get my hands on a twin turbo myself. but I'd rather see a middle aged black man behind the wheel of one then a girl. those turbos would just go to waste! :D :finger:

i hope you have money set aside for rebuilding those turbo's...if you go with the z...seems like every z i hear of has turbo problems or had them blown since most people drive the shit out of those cars! I know i would!!

First of all I've done my research and decided to go the 2+2 instead of the turbo, because i think it is a waste also and still 222hp a lot of hp for a stock.
To 95vteclude: Okay I didn't ask you opinion on who would look better in the Z. Why do you say this? In my opinion I don't really care who is driving the car (I just was talking about that b/c my boyfriend). As long as the driver isn't fucking up the car and can't drive, and just b/c I am a girl doesn't mean I can't drive......:flipa:
To Jay: Well it still reads VTEC(Variable value Timing and lift Electronic Control) at least i didn't type Vtech, hahaha.

The version with 280hp (sorry, dunno much about Nissan) should weigh about 722lbs so Iīd guess the version with only 222hp wonīt be much lighter. The one with 280hp needs about 6.0 seconds from 0-60 according to a british sports car magazine so the one with 222hp canīt be much faster than a Prelude IMO. If itīs any faster....
So 222hp isnīt that much for such a heavy car. Please correct me if Iīm wrong! Like Iīve said I donīt know much about Nissan. Iīm a pure Honda fan. ;)
Iīm sure 95vteclude didnīt mean it like that. But to be honest Iīm thinking the same! :D
And yeah, I know that Iīve spelled VTEC wrong in my name. :finger:

ill post this here too (i already did in the girls forum) but since lots of u dont go in there......well tell me if im right
1. the z is a HEAVY ASS car
2. parts are hard to get for it. my bfs friend had a z and it was at that stage where something was always breaking and local shops did not have the parts for it so they had to end up ordering the parts from japan and they took awhile to get here.
3. yes the z is more powerful but it is a heavy car and aftermarket parts are more expensive for it.
4. also not many mechanics are used to working on z's since not many ppl have them. ie. if u live out in bumfuckville chances are there isnt a mechanic who knows how to work on the z
i still think the z is a nice car but id rather have the lude. it is a easier to get parts to modify it than the z.

What the hell are you people talking about? a 92-96 prelude Si has 160hp and the VTEC has 190hp.
but i love torque and the Z even the 2+2 have plenty of it, 198 ft-lbs.
The prelude vtec has 158 ft-lbs. and with the vtec, i doesn't really but it feels like it takes away the torque..... i love the feel of torque.... but i could get the prelude Si and it has the torquey feel but it has only 160 hp. The horsepower and torque make up for the 3313 lbs. of car. The prelude weights 2866 lbs. that is only 447 pounds difference. Yeah that would be a big difference if the Z only had like 10 more horsepower and torque. But the Z has 32 more hp. and 40 more ft. lbs. of torque, that is a pretty decent stretch.

Yes, I am planning on modifing which ever one i get.......
I've done the research and things are about the same for every car....... and i can get a Z for the same amount as a prelude , even in great condition. I have saved up 11000 not counting the price of the car so i don't think i'll have money issues with the mods on either car.

Okay, the Z weighs 3313lbs (which translates into 1500kg  ) and has got 222hp. A 5th gen Prelude weighs 2866lbs (which translates into 1300kg  ) and has got 200hp. So the Z weighs 447lbs (200kg!!)more than a Prelude while it only has got 22 horses more. The Z may feel torquier (??? is that word right???) but Iīd bet itīs not much faster if itīs faster at all. And I donīt think that a 3313lbs car handles that well. And the Prelude has got a better mileage.... :D

See I don't even think we have the prelude type s (JDM) here, so the 200hp does not apply....but yeah i'm going for either the prelude vtec or the 300 Z twin-turbo (300hp ,198ft.lbs) now i'd like to see a prelude compete with that but it would be pointless to put a non turbo up against a turbo..... but even if the prelude was turbo charged still probably wouldn't stand a chance (even the type s)........

Well i'm going with the prelude vtec b/c i couldn't find a 300zxTT for sale that i liked and also the prelude is cheaper in price and a found a vtec for sale that i am absolutley in love with ....
Whprelude i am glad you were is bullshitting around b/c (me liking preludes just the same as 300zx') we all know a TT could beat a prelude..... everyone knows that and that is just plain ridiculous to even say that....... Yes total Prelude Power (or whatever) but you know that preludes and 300zx's are not even in the same catagory..... 4 cyl. , V6........ and a 300 is more of a muscle car (not american muscle) and a prelude is a quick , nice, efficient sports car, that can beat tons even stock ..... yes it could be done (a prelude beating a TT) but that is if the TT was completely stock and the prelude completely wasn't, and we all know that.

IMO i would go with the TT cuz its just plain faster, looks better and performs better then a prelude. A decked out TT would look nicer then a prelude. Sure, i love preludes and im planning on getting one myself cuz i love em but if i had the chance to get a TT instead, i would, even considering the repairs and higher expense of mods to the car. and as you said, they are in different catagorys so a TT would perform much nicer. i just hope you will take care of ur car unlike other girls who dont care about em. they are people too ya know :p . and plz plz plz dont push ur car hard like this girl that i know that floors the gas and then has to stop for a red light like 10 feet away. i feel bad for that damn car, it gets pushed so hard and for what?!? she also blows through stop signs... would anyone know something i could say to her to stop that stupid shit? She has a mustang btw... ewww... so i dont know if i would care about that car. I like my cars imported. well anyway.... i would go for the TT due to almost better everything. i think a girl behind a powerful, manual car is very SEXY!:lol2:

The 2+2 is about 3400 pounds, while the prelude is around 3000 or 3200?????(Don't remember) However, the 300zx NA pumps out 222hp. That extra 22 horses more than compensates for the weight. If you decide to get the regular coupe instead of the 2+2, then you'll be at 3200 pounds. Either way, the 300z will take a prelude.
However, if you wanna take turns HARD, get a prelude SH. Man, those cars can corner like crazy without even skidding.

ummmm, n/a 300zx is slower than my grandma in a wheelchair, but so are 2.3 si preludes, so hard to say, but i ass raped a modded n/a in my stock prelude, hehehehe, and in my TTZ. 300zx is not worth getting n/a, especially when TT is near the same preice ;)

I own a 300ZX TT and Parts are not hard to find for it But every part for a 300ZX is double what you would pay for a Prelude It weighs about 4000 Lbs and the N/A model only weighs a few hundred pounds less and is very slow unlike the TT so if you want speed, handling, and straight out performance the 300ZX is the key but expect to replace the turbos or engine at about 100K mi. if you want pretty good performance but wouldn't even come close to the TT get a Prelude it is also very reliable it your decision
