What's the best kind of paint to use for painting lenses? I've heard that stained glass paint works pretty good... Any ideas?

the paint is most likely Testors Candy Apple Red, and you just need to mask off the area you want painted and paint it.

I was going to make a new thread but then decided not to but here's my question. If I try to paint my oem tailights red, should I only paint the orange part of the lenZ red or the whole thing red? .......or would it look much better for me to get clears (spend more $) and paint them?
what do you think?

my lights are clears that i converted to red/clears. i tore the housing apart and put dividers in there, and drilled new holes for the bulbs, so they actually work right(sorta :D ) i also had to "manipulate" some of the sheetmetal behind the lights for the bulbs to fit in their new locations.

Do you paint the inside or the outside?

I was gonna do the same thing, but I didn't want to rip off EightOhOne's idea. So I just bought a set of clears for my CRX and taped off the back-up lenses and painted the rest with Testors Candy Apple Red. Then applied several coats of clear enamel.

they also make a tail spray paint that's translucent red that works wonders, i guess it's impossible to get off (pretty much) after you throw on a few coats of clear. Only thing is the only stuff like that i know of is JDM so it's kinda expensive

transparent tail/lens paint prices depend on the brand. i bought amber lens paint to paint my front corners and the can cost me about 12 bucks. ive seen foliatec's transparent paint, im assuming their paint's good since they make a lot of detailing stuff (interior paint etc.) ive seen their cans go for about 30 canadian. and you can probably have enough left to do two cars with that stuff

has anyone attempted painting the stock lenses with success?
