I know about all your opinions and all, but my question is, what needs to be done to install a B16a, and what needs to be done to install a H22A. Both into a CRX. By this i mean mounting the engine, suspension, etc. Thanks in advance.

What needs to be done is there going to both need complete wiring changes. Place Racing and HAS sport make the special motor mount kits for the B16a. This is a much more common swap. With both motors you will have to wire in the VTEC. Now for the H22A there is no mount kit that I have seen yet you will have to beef up the front suspention a little youre going to have clearance problems and if you havent went to the hybrid honda web site and every where else on the web they warn against it for all the hassle you will have go with the GSR motor you'll spend less in the long run maybe and there are very few H22A that are faster than GSR 's If H22A swap was that good every one would do it.

Thanks
Chad

h22 is the hardest to do b/c it's the biggest engine and the reason you dont hear about it that often is because it's so exspensive but i would bet it coudl tear a gsr apart in a straight line but i hear it handles poorl but i bet you could minamize that with a really nice suspension

I found this on the hybrid board a few weeks ago

H22A (Prelude VTEC) in any Civic/CRX/Integra
The H22A engine leans in the wrong direction
Civic engines have blocks that lean forward while the H22A block leans backwards, towards the firewall. Even though custom fabrication will mount engine, it's still not suitable for this chassis.
Fabrication issues
Custom fabrication is required to get the H22 engine to fit. The stock motor mounts have to be removed and new mounts relocated, making this an expensive job. Modern day cars are designed from the ground up as an integrated structure, and this includes the engine. Moving mounts around causes the structural characteristics to change. Furthermore, it also increases the chance of a screwup happening.
Chronic understeer
The heavy load up front will cause tons of understeer. Furthermore, the added power up front will cause the front end to lose traction too easily. What you have is a car that goes fast, only in a straight line.

I've got a B16 swap write-up on my site......

www.phatwhippinCRX.20m.com

As far as the H22 goes, unless it's a TRACK-ONLY car, I would stay away from it.

As a matter of fact, if you want H22a power, but want a car that can actually turn, check out www.crvtec.com

H22 power from a B block...... the only thing is, its MAD expensive to do RIGHT. And if you're not gonna do it right, don't do it at all.......

STAY AWAY FROM H22 IN A CRX OR 4TH GEN CIV!!!!

You have to make ALOT of cutting under the hood to make it fit -- it WILL fit, but ANY accident you get into will rip your car apart like it was made of paper mache... not to mention the motor is so heavy compared to the rest of the car you will be plaqued with UNCORRECTABLE oversteer....

I did find a mounting kit for an H22A engine in a 88-91 CRX at http://www.infinitemotorsports.net/PRI.0.html but you have to go down and look at them i think it is the 6th catagory down says 88-91 CRX/Civic w ACCORD or Prelude F22/H22/H23 so it's right there if you do want to find the mount kit ok thanks c~Ya.
