I have a crazing problem on one of my lights (passenger side only) has anyone had any luck finding someone to repair this kind of problem or finding a kit to refinish the light?

I think he means hazing problem... As in the plastic headlight cover is either oxidized or has a bunch of scratches on it...

Supplies:
1000-grit Sandpaper
2000-grit Sandpaper
McGuires ScratchX Scratch Remover
Spray Bottle filled with water
Shop Towels

1. Pick a headlight to start on and spray it down with water. Dig out the 1000-Grit sandpaper and start sanding the headlight, keep it wet and wipe the plastic dust off frequently. Keep at it until the dust isn't yellow anymore and you can't feel any pits or corrosion on the lens.

2. At this point your headlight looks worse than when you started...it may have been foggy before but now you're wishing you had left them alone because they are clouded worse than ever before. Never fear. Dig out the 2000-Grit sandpaper and spray the headlight down, like before keep it wet, keep sanding and wiping and spraying until any minor imperfections come out, and all the scratches from the 1000-grit paper are smoothed out.

3. Yes I know they are still foggy. Wash them off completely and dry them thoroughly. Now grab that expensive tube of ScratchX and follow the directions, rub it on using tight circles and lots of elbow grease. Let it dry and then buff it off and look at your headlight. Has it ever looked better? No I didn't think so.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 above on the second headlight.

I hope this helps relieve some of the aggrevation I had in trying to find a solution to my headlight issues.

I guess you would call it hazing. It's not scratched but looks like UV damage. The plastic is starting to get an almost etched look to it in two or three spots on the lens exterior.

you have to bake your headlights in the oven before you can pop the plastic off :lol2:

he never said to take the glass off, as the 99 are lexon and not glass. The 94 is the only year you bake them and pull the glass off to fix them. 95-99 follow the above instructions.

I thought it was 94-95 and maybe 96 but I heard 97 and up are lexon.

No need to pop the cover off to wet sand it.

Also you can remove the lexan covers if need be. I did it on 3 different lexans that had water in them.

And for the wetsanding it self I would go 1000, then 1500, then 2000. going in smaller increments is what you want to do. The easiest way to keep an eye on your progressis wipe it dry and look for consistency. Another thing to keep in mind is to sand the same direction over the whole headlight. It will make it much more even.

are there any local retail stores I can go to and buy this McGuire's ScratchX Scratch Remover stuff? Or is it an online only thing?

Crazing

Creation of fine cracks in material. The difference between microcracks and crazes is, that crazes can carry load. Craze can be described as a crack bridged by fibrils. It occurs mostly in amorphous, brittle polymers like PS, PMMA. The appearence of white color is caused by the presence of air in the craze.

I pcked up a quality plastic polish and using a soft polishing wheel & my drill was able to reomve the hazing quite nicely. I would recommend attmpting that first before going to the extreme of sanding it down.

Sanding it is not an extreme, it is actually a huge improvement that lasts. I wish I would have taken some before pics but I restored the headlights on my moms Avenger a few weeks ago by wetsanding. The difference is amazing. She said her night time driving is much improved too.
