Just bought an 86 TC, looks amazing, very well kept...i've had it a few days and....Drivers side Power Window has stopped working...unfortunatly its down, and I cant get it up, and the forecast is calling for rain...problem number 2 is...when driving slow it feels like its about to choke, and when starting off, when you first press the gas it hesitates...any ideas?

I called the local LIncoln dealer about the window, he says they can fix it, ANy Ideas how much that will cost? Also bought some Slick 50 gas system cleaner, hoping that will clear up the hesitation and choking problems....

For the downed window:
If you can hear the motor spinning, yet the glass wont move it's most likely the clutch bushings are shot. Their an internal part of the lift motor assembly providing a clutch action if you happen to snag an arm or leg while closing the glass.

You can get these clutch bushings all over the place and do the repair yourself but it's allot of work. On the other hand the dealers and shops wont mess with these bushings, they'll just replace the entire regulator, track, and motor assembly, costing you hundreds.
The bushings are about $5.00 and worth about $.50 cents.

This is kind off the point, but I had a '86 Lincoln Town Car a few years ago.

It was a great car, and a joy to drive. But, the strangest thing about it was, whenever it rained or snowed outside, the car would not start or even turn over at all. Even if it rained or snowed "lightly". I never figured out what the cause was. I don't know if that's common with that year, just thought I'd mention it in case.

For the heistation and choking problems, I'm very partial to the "Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner". This stuff works really well. For extreme cases, you can use "Sea Foam".

Cheers,
Erick
