a/c vent control

the vent selector for the a/c, i.e. floor, winsheild, dash, and combinations, does not work properly when the selector is set on dash. It will blow out the defrost and floor, but will not blow onto you from the dash vents. Just a big howling sound. It was acting up previously and if you changed the selector, you would hear a "closing flap sound" and then it would blow out the vent. IM sure its something fairly simple but i do not know where to start. thanks.

Well on my 90 K1500, there is an accuator near the gas pedal above the tranny hump. This accuator moves the vent selector flap.

On mine, I was able to take it apart and apply a little white grease and it started to work again.

The accuator is available from any AC Delco parts store.
