i have a 1989 delta 88 and it has 222,000 miles. for some reason it likes to stall as im driving down the road. usually when i take my foot off the gas. i have changed the sparkplugs and wires, new starter, new altornator new battery, new fuel pump, new fuel injectors.
when i pull codes all i get is a bad cam sensor (it threw its magnet).
was jsut wondering if anyone had any idea what could be the problem. ive even taken it to the mechanic and they thought it was the fuel pump so i put the 300 bucks into it and replaced it myslef....still doent like to stay running and sometimes wont start. acts like it isnt getting enough gas. never sputters just cuts out....

That sounds exactly like the problem i am having with my car. Try to test your coil packs and/or ignition module.
You can test the coils by removing the spark plug wire on each coil while the engine is running (just have a buddy ride the accelerator so the car wont die). If the post on the coil doesn't spark or arcs to the side then it is dead....should solve your problem for about $75 to $150 bucks
good luck

First post, hello everyone.
I'm having this exact problem with my car right now... code 41. We replaced the cam position sensor and my friend had a revelation... the cam magnet has shredded inside the timing cover. It must be replaced or you will get crappy gas milage (I went from 350 to 270 a tank), boggy throttle response, and rough starts.
The part itself is fairly cheap... it's the labor that's gonna kill you. The timing cover must come off, and the book shows that as 3+ hours. Now, if you're planning on keeping the car, consider also replacing the following since the area will already be exposed:
timing chain
timing chain tensioner
cam button
All the parts together should be $60-$80 if you don't go to the dealer. The repairs will be this week, I can reply later with the results.
