GS-T Caliper questions...

Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in a while, just been doing a bit of work to my Eclipse. I've run into a decision making problem tho and I wanted some input if u could spare. I was wondering what's the big diffrence (if any) is between the 2nd gen Eclipse GS calipers and the GS-T calipers. Also if its difficult at all to swap the GS's calipers with the GS-T's. I wanna keep the stock 5-spoke aluminum wheels but i want more stopping power and every brake upgrade kit I see has oversized calipers, which means I have to upgrade from the 16" rims. So I was thinking about swapping my calipers with the GS-T ones if it provided any kinda advantage. Thanks a lot guys.

not sure the difference there, but try putting on Rear gs-t calipers and replace your rear drums. that will help a bit, and i've seen it done

as far as i know, only rs come with drums in the back, then the rest with brake disc,

its really weird in the back, i think it has the drums and disc brake, maybe im wrong or i was seeing things

noooo you wouldnt have both, not to make you sound dumb so dont take offense to this b/c im just trying to help, but do you know what rotors are?? maybe thats what you are mistaking for the drum brakes. the calipers are what "clamp" onto the rotor, which makes the car stop

maybe it wasnt a drum then, i remember seeing calipers, this was a while ago so i cant quite remember

It goes as follows, 2nd Gen Eclipses: RS=disc/drum GS=disc/disc GS-T=disc/disc GS-X=disc/disc and then like the GS Spyders have a disc/drum set up but who cares lol. Some cars have both. Some cars use a small drum within the rotor as an emergency brake. I know the 300zx has this set-up not sure if the 2g do but i know the 1gs don't. As for the calipers i wouldn't think there is much difference, if any. Unless the gs-t's have two piston calipers which i' pretty sure they don't. Why would you need upgraded brakes on a gs anyway j/p.

I just thought of this... Have you ever heard of cryo treating? My brother just had his internals cryoed and they sent us tons of info on it. Anyway there was something about ambulances having their rotors cryoed (i was like wtf at frst too) what this does is aligns the molecules providing more surface area for the pad to contact. I don't have the broshure with me now but i know it was omething like a 20% increase in braking. It is also really cheap (we used a place called 300below). I plan on having my new turbo cryoed.

The gsx has two piston calipers up front, the others are single. I believe the gsx, gst, and gs all have the same rear brake assembly.
