Air intake sensor question

Hi, my son just bought a 97 with the 350/6 speed setup. Failed smog test, set codes P0112 & P0113. Now that I look it's got an open hole in the air intake hose about 1/2 inch in diameter right at the elbow bend in the hose.

I'm guessing that is where the sensor goes, but I can't seem to find any wires to hook up to it...anybody out there got any ideas? Color of the wires, location, what wiring bundle they are in, etc?

I plugged the hole in the intake hose for the moment but need to get this thing to pass the smog test.

I don't have a manual on this car yet, he's only had it a day and I've looked at my various other GM manulas with no real help.

Any help is appreciated!

I don't know much about the forth gens, but I hate seeing someone not get any response.

You seem to be right about the missing sensor. The two codes that showed up are directly related to it (circuit high and low input).

Wells part #SU176 $9.99

As for the wiring though, my advise is to find someone else with the same setup, and trace it back. Good luck.

Yes, its the Intake Air Temperature sensor thats missing. Wire colors look like brown and yellow. These two wires dissappear into a harness near the T/stat housing. Probably, the plug for the sensor has dropped down in front of the RH cyl head.
