What the heck is going on !?!?

What the heck's up with our forum? Wagon's banned, stickies are gone, anyone !?!? Did I miss something?

I was noticing that. can someone give us the 411 on this

When it rains it pours.

I saw a sticky wagon left and it was deleted soon after. Basically it said this place sucks and everyone is asking questions about blow off valves and neon underbody kits. Then he told us to go to DSMtuners or your local DSM forum...He quit.

Also...he changed the name of the stickied thread for 96spyderman's to something like "Jake - "I will not delete this thread like other nazi moderators." -joewagon."

Thats what I saw anyway.

I noticed it too. It just happened within the last 2 hours. It is wierd :screwy:

He has this thing for Jake it seems, even throughout Spyderman's issues about the car etc.

I had always thougt of Wagon as a mature kid with a straight head on his shoulders, given the way how he regulated stuff on here, and his posts, but I guess my ideas about him were a little skewed.

I don't know about you guys, but a forum is a place where you ask about stuff regarding your car. Anything. How to do a 6-Bolt swap, or put fucking neons under the body. Does it matter? I hope to god Wagon had more reason that that, for acting the way he reportedly did. I hope we get some light on the matter soon.



PS, the whoever who deleted those valuable stickies: that was the most selfish and thoughtless act I have seen on any forum in a while.

There was a couple issue's brought up yesterday to the adminstration , that we are looking into. We are going to be appointing a moderator in here shortly and if you would like me to put back up any stickys that Joewagon didn't make, I would be more than happy to sticky them back up (just need the links to them). Thank you all for your patients and we will give you more info as soon as we all come to a agreement on the current status of what has been going on.

Please watch your language and Joewagon because he decided he didn't want to be part of AF when we had some question for him, took all of them down. I have no idea the reasoning for it but I am sure it had something to do with him not being pleased with the current sitution. Again please don't over-react . Hopefully everything will be worked out shortly.

Jake is currently suspended but pending him coming back with a explanation. He may be active again.

I'm sure everything will get worked out in time, everyone just chill out and wait patiently for things to work themselves out. I wouldn't hold your breath for Jake though, i dont think he'll be back for a long time if at all.

Joe was a good mod. Hopefully he rescinds quitting. On the other hand he favored Jake. He silenced criticism, even when due. It would have been nice if Jake was the one to quit; whether or not what he's doing is illegal, it's unethical as hell, and makes the board look bad. There are capable and responsible members of this forum that could step up, and I hope they do. I nominate Kevin and the other Joe.

P.S. I had a sticky I don't think is sticky worthy. If a mod could link to it in the FAQ page, rather than sticky it, that would be nice.

Two people were banned because they did things considered unethical. Being a moderator is just like any other job, if you have unethical business practices you're going to get fired or lose your company. If you dont like the fact that two crooked people were suspended and/or banned from this site then leave. Jake may or may not be back, either way some people are just going to have to learn to move on and deal with it.

Being a moderator on a technical forum has nothing to do with business practices. Charachter is important, but unless the ethical issues are in regards to AF, what they do is their own business.

I fucked my wife in the ass a few times, which is highly illegal in NC, but I haven't been banned from a forum because of it.

Jake has not been proven guilty of any of these things but if he can provide proof or explanation that proves that there was no wrong doing, He will be back with all his stars lit up, until that happens he is not banned but will not be a moderator here and Joewagon was never in danger of losing his mod status until he went to all lengths to get himself not only demodded but banned as well.

People come and go on this site, i'm sure there will be plenty of more people who come here who "know their tech". Losing Joe and possibly Jake wont be the doom of the Eclipse forums. Two more highly knowledgeable resources will join, we have enough people in here anyway who know their stuff. And i might not know all the ins and outs of these engines and their quirks yet, but i'm pretty good with technical problems, and i'll help as much as i can.

This has really escalated into something more than I ever intended. It is really to bad that joe was banned because he was quite knowledgeable and so is jake!!
I have been trying to get ahold of jake to work out a deal that would benefit both of us. He hasn't called me back, but hopefully he will.
I think LANDO was a little out of line.
I just posted recently that freedom of speech is a right and responsibility to have BUT not abused.
It is a right that our forefathers fought for and i'm sure they would kick some of us in the ass if they saw how some people in the US abuse that right.
Last thing I have to add is that yes there is always going to be old people leaving for whatever reason and new people coming in to our group... that's life... deal with it. (there's my use of F.O.S.)

This is really, really sad. A few mods seem to be on a power trip, banning the few people who make this forum worth visiting. Moderators who are not frequent visitors on our Eclipse/Talon/Laser forum do no understand how things are run here, and what the norm is. Granted, Joe didn't do the smartest thing, but he was an excellent moderator who answered many of the toughest questions I had. JoeWagon, Kevin, Jake and Lando were the four main people you would hope answered your thread regarding tech questions.

As for the vulgarity issue, I too see slight hypocrisy, and one strange excuse to ban the most knowledgable DSMers around (we are not in Kindergarten anymore, Mr.FormulaLT1).

As a frequent member of this forum, I would rather have a few guys say things like, "fuck" and "asshole" to appease their testosterone, and have my technical questions answered, than have a useless forum where people don't know what they are doing.

FormulaLT1, I suggest you consider un-banning the people who make this forum the excellent resource that it has been since the past few years, and understand how things work here. You could chose to ignore me, but the only thing that will do, is decrease AFF traffic, and redirect many of its faithful members to see other forums. I say this as someone who has had his homepage set on here since the day I joined, over a year ago.

I saw the Joe had posted that Jake had lost over $3k in the process of getting the car all together. How is this possible, when the car was so beat up? It probably cost $2k for the car so that leaves him with $7k to fix it up. I doubt that he put $10k worth of parts in it.

I banned one member not the whole forum and he did use the word fuck and shit and ass after I asked to please not use that type of language (in this thread!) he asked to be banned. Anyone that can't remain civil and be patient til things work out. Feel free to leave. I am not here to take over the forum. I am asking you to remain civil til your new mod has been appointed. I will not tolerate the type of behavior that Lando was directing towards AF, sorry but thats the way things are and the part of the user agreement you clicked on when you signed up for a AF account. Joewagon asked for the exact actions that happen to him and is the one that messed up the sticky's and Jake is not banned and can post in any forums but is not currently a mod for the time being. Ease up guys.

I had a feeling that Joe was frustrated with the way things were going about, but never thought he would do something that would put this forum behind like deleting the stickies. Pretty selfish. I don't really know how we can get them back if nobody can access them.

I don't think that we necessarily need moderators that are tech guru's and know the answer to every question. We just need somebody that will keep the forum looking good, sticky stuff that is important, and keep people in line. Then the people that do know their shit have more time to post their knowledge, and won't get fed up with the BS of being a mod and having to regulate.

This has been building for awhile now, even before 96spyderman's posts. I could see a change coming, but nothing this drastic. I was away for a day, and the whole forum went upside down. It was probably for the better though, after it gets straightened out things will go back to normal. Keep the peace until then guys.

All the thread that were sticky's are still in the forum but once they are unstuck they go back into date order on the main forum. So if you can locate them. I can put them back up but since Joewagon in the mod corner made it perfectly clear he no longer wants anything to do with AF or its members (his words guys) I would be respecting "his wishes" by not putting his threads back up.

i was just thinking about this, and i dont mind being left with all the people who only know how to put stickers or spoilers on their cars cause for people who need info on that kinda shit its good for them, but what about people like me who will need guidence from some one who knows WTF their talking about when it comes to my Engine.

First i want to say, you'll get NO advice from me on "tyte neons" as one of you has already said. I'm going to do my best to get everything running the way it was, and i want everyone to put what happened with Jake and Joe behind them, aside from the direct parties involved in the dispute. I dont know everything about DSM's seeing how i just bought one myself, but as far as general technical knowledge goes, i know my stuff. I'm certified in Engine overhaul and have a degree in automotive management, so i would say i'm pretty competent when it comes to the auto industry. If you have any further questions feel free to PM me or Formula. I'm a pretty easy guy to get along with and i'm looking forward to getting this part of the board back in working order.

I am a part of this community and feel that all of the members should have a say in who the new mod is.

I don't think that Z28Josh is the right person for the job. Most of his posts/time are in completely off-topic, street racing or stress release forums.

He has a very limited number of technical posts and I have only seen him post in this forum very infrequently.

Once again, Josh, I am not attempting to be derogatory or belittle you in any way and I hope you understand that.

I don't see any reason why he can't. Atleast let him prove otherwise. He wanted the responsibility and I think he would be good enough for the job. I don't think that any of the really experienced members really want the job of moderator anyways, they just want to continue to be the kings of knowledge and help when they can, and that's just fine.

well moderators aren't appointed by member nomination. They are appointed by moderator nomination and we all feel comfortable that Josh has alot of knowledge in many types of vehicles and one is the eclipse but the knowing techinical stuff on cars is not what being a moderator is all about. Its the ability to keep a level head and being able to deal with forum disputes and problems. Josh has been around for a long time now and has become a well respected member and has shown time and time again to have the ability to handle himself very well. I fully support him and so did the rest of the moderating team. He is the man in here now and is a very nice guy and more than willing to take suggestions from you guys on what you guys would like this forum to be about but there is in no way going to be a recount on this matter . He is the moderator in here.

Josh hasn't even started anything new in this forum and you're already saying isn't the right selection.

I do understand that you feel there are better candidates out there, however, Josh is going to be the moderator in this forum. He owns an eclipse and does have technical know-how. That said, whether or not you feel it's the right selection, it is the selection that was made and I know personally that Josh will be doing what he can to make this forum more enjoyable for yourself and the rest of the members.

As for the thread you have linked to, that was more so the moderating staff's fault. We went a bit too far with our April Fools joke and Josh was under the impression that the entire site was going down the tubes. It is in the past and he is now in a position of authority in this forum.

I will also be helping out in here from time to time until we have another moderator added to assist Josh in the forum. With both of your moderators being gone (one decommissioned for the time being) we made the decision based on who we thought would be able to handle the job on such short notice. We are all confident in Josh, just as we ask you to be. If there is something you think he should know, then PM him. He is here to help you, but don't think your words should go unnoticed.

Now, as I have said, you may not like the selection, but we the moderators are confident in it. If you need anything done in the forum, have any questions, or need any help, please do not hesitate to PM Josh, myself or FormulaLT1.

PS your quite the little forum searcher but taking things completely out of context. That thread was part of a april fools joke that he was in on and one in which was set up by the adminstration. Not a attack on AF.

I expected to get picked apart. No big deal, you guys dont know me well enough, and have only read a limited number of my posts. It's understandable, but as far as knowledge goes, i have always made it a point to learn as much as i can about ALL cars, not just one kind. And i'm a quick learner, so as Jon said, if there's anything you feel i should know, go ahead and pm me. Or if there's anything you feel you need to know about me go ahead and ask in PM's as well.

I agree with that. Members would not nominate a moderator for the hell of it. They would nominate one for his/her technical knowledge. I can tell you a whole lot on how and when to balance your wheels and paint that urethane lip, but what I can't discuss effectively, is how to read knock on my DSMLink, for example. That is the only reason why members on here felt the need to nominate a mod with DSM-specific knowledge.

Anyway....muchado bout nothin'. I just posted my first post on DSMtuners.com...

well im guna go check in at DSMtunders, but ill stick around here long enough to see how well things go. and to try and help with what i can too, if things dotn get off the ground here ill have DSMtunders at least.

Well, the reason why moderators are nominated by other moderators are that we have to enforce the rules and keep our cool. This is not a techinical job but a job for someone we feel comfortable will work well with both us and you and has a interest in the forum he/she is moderating. Its not for you guys to throw up a peer of yours who will let you guys get away with whatever you want. You want a example. I come in here and ask to watch the language and you all tell me this was never addressed well not only did I say it but Eclipserst had a sticky up saying to not over do language directly in a sticky that was up since April' 04. Every moderator for every forum was appointed using this system. Present yourself in a respectful way and be helpfull and on the next moderator one of you guys may get the position but don't expect us to change our system or the great mod you have been appointed now. Also on a side note Joe was demodded and banned the same day, big suprise he had something negative to say about AF :rolleyes:

This thread has run it's course for now. Any other questions can be directed towards any of the mods who have thus far posted in this thread, including swigz, formula and myself. I promise you guys, there wont be much different except for the abscense of those two individuals. If a shop of older technicians and service advisors can accept me as their warranty administrator it shouldn't be hard for you guys to accept me as your mod.
