power steering problem?

when i turn my steering wheel all the way to the left or right
there is a signifigant drop in idle, like 500 to 100 rpms
what is that problem?

You are not supposed to turn the steering wheel ALL the way... I have blown seals or something in the pumps on the first two cars I ever had because of that... then a mechanic asked me on the 2nd car if that's what I did... he said don't do it... so now I don't...lol
