HVAC Fan

Hey out there! The fan on my HVAC is not working. The a/c kicks on and so does the heat, but the fan does not run, so no air comes out. When it first started acting up it ran some days and some days it did not. When it did run it slowed down as I came to a stop and went faster as I drove. Had a mechanic friend check and he said he thinks it's the blower module but he is not familiar with these.
Any ideas. Also would like to attempt to replace myself. Any instructions out there? How hard is it? Where is it located?

Thanks

On the 96, the blower module is inside the passenger compartment under the dash on the passenger side. It's near the engine compartment and takes a good reach under the dash to get to it. There are two connectors going to it - one connector with one wire and the other connector with 3 wires. The module itself is about 2 inches by 2 inches by 1/2 inch and mounts on a heat sink about 4 inches by 3 inches by 1 inch. The assembly should be held in place by two small bolts. This module receives commands from the car's computer and it tells the blower how fast to run. You might try getting a used module from ebay or a junk yard. GM uses this module in many of its cars that have continuously adjustable blower speed so you are not linited to just looking for an Aurora blower module.

i have been plagued by the same problem for a year and this is what i have had best luck with...remove the passenger side plastic cover above your feet, 2 or 3 screws. with the car running and the blower on full grab the blower motor body and if the speed varies while you are moving you hand around feel for 2 rubber spots on the bottom end of the motor body and if the motor starts and stops as you touch them... if it does then you can work somthing out i jammed a nail into one of those rubbers a very small bit and its been working good for a few months
