I have read that a 2 piece cold air intake is better then the 3 piece cold air intake doctorspeed sells is this true?also everywhere else has it made out of t306 aluminum.. is that better then doctor speeds t6061 aluminum.ebay has dirt low prices on the intakes with filters but im thinking they arent as good as doctor speeds 3 piece system.also is a bypass filter better then a regular k and n filter.

it all depends on what you want....2 piece, 3 piece... i would think the 2 piece would be better.....t306 aluminum...t6061 aluminum .. there both aluminum... so i wouldn't worry about it...... bypass filter ..regular k and n filter... not sure what a bypass filter is... but i wouldn't think it a whole lot better then the K&N..... as far as ebay stuff goes.... you could get ripped off... just my 2 cents

Ps3 do a search in forums on CAI, you should find usefull urls in those posts. cold air is cold air whether its aluminum or plastic, alum. lasts longer, two or three pieces shouldnt make a difference as long as they stay connected and it has a Large tube say 3" or so .

Night Rider,
Thanks for the post, it was really helpful.

Sorry to keep bothering but what exactly is a bypass filter? also my car has the intake temperature sensor so what would i do about that? Again i apologize for all the questions but im interested in putting a CAI on my car and NOONE makes one for a 2.2L Ecotec, besides Ebay (which i agree, i dont think thats a good idea).

from what i found about a bypass filter is has to do with the oil.. not the air.... Air intake temp sen.. i don't think you have to fool around with that...to put on a CIA... but then again... i may be wrong.. wish you the best of luck..

I was gonna do a CAI but i think a WAI would be easier to do with no cutting of anything.

maybe ill put a heat shield around the filter between the battery and shock tower. I tried to make a diagram on here put it didnt work.

Let me know any tips or secrets you have. thanks

I just installed a CAI on my 04 GA 2.2L Ecotec. Since i couldnt find it anywhere online i just made one my own. I had a suggestion from a guy in another thread to use PVC pipe which i did because Lowes and Home Depot didnt have any metal pipe big enough. Just got done putting it in and took it for a spin, man the sound it makes over 3k RPM is amazing. Makes it sound mean. Throatier sound rather than hearing the engine whine. Im impressed and i noticed a difference in pick up right away. Just thought id post and let you guys know. Thanks again to xeroinfinity and Night Rider for all the help they gave me. Ill try and get a pciture of it...not necessarily the prettiest thing but im not trying to win any beauty contests...

sorry its a WAI not a CAI
