does anyone know if the 2002 v8 corvette engine would fit in a 1997 firebird?

The 2002 V8 Corvette engine (aka, the LS1) is the same one that's in 98-02 Trans Am's and Formula's.. So, in other wards.. yes.

But, you would need a tranny to go along with it, as the one on your 3.8 would not hold up. And you would need a complete wiring harness, the computer, a radiator, a rear end, new fabricated engine mounts.. etc etc.. always remember, V8 swaps are not worth doing on a V6. Too much time, and too much money to invest.

Well, basically.. if it can fit in a Corvette, than it can fit in a Firebird. Besides the LT5 fitted ZR-1 Corvette, that required a wider body. But the Lingenfelter is the same engine, just with beefed up internals. Still an LS1.

Alot of it is simple logistics. If 2 different cars have the same motor available, then the motor from one will fit into the other, you might have to move the accessories around like alternator, ac compressor, power steering pump, things like that.

Psh, I wish I owned a shop. The questions you are asking are very basic common knowledge among F-body owners. Shoot, I've still got ALOT more to learn about these cars.

He doesn't know when mine will be back on the road again. :p
Speaking of that. How far along are you now?
