Confused? good.
if i buy the v6 camaro, could i put v8 suspension parts on it? like strut tower braces, and and shocks / springs all that kind of shit? im wondering becasue all the shit is for eiter v6 or v8... now i want to get an ls7 stuff in the engine bay but i dont wanna upgrade suspension for a v6 when im only gonna convert to a v8 later... i guess im asking why are the parts marked v8 or v6? does it really matter?

so v8 parts will fit, but what would be the down side of putting the v8 parts on v6?

side note, we are talking about Suspension for a V6 camaro that will eventually have an ls7.

You can normally just install the WS.6/SS optioned 1LE suspension. Should work, we are talking about a 4th gen right?

yes, but i want to have my suspension ready to go when i put the engine it, its gonna be custom anyway, but i was wondering like what the affects of putting parts list as a V8 part would be?

It handles better?
I wouldn't see any bad affects of it. The only advantage the V6 has in handling is the location of the motor in comparison to the V8.
Upgrading your suspension will just aid in that.

Wait....
I think I understand now. You are asking if having the suspension from a V8 on your V6 will ruin it for use with a V8 again?
No, it won't.

i want to use V8 suspension on my V6 becasue later i will be swaping for a V8 but before i swap i want to get the suspension built before the V8 ever goes in, will setting a V8 suspension on my car hurt anything?

i dont want the car to look weird or handle shity becasue hte heavier engine isnt in it yet... :s kinda understand what i mean yet?

yeah why not go with the v8 stuff...it would have NO downside at all except maybe the cost....good luck with it...
King Of Crunk
08-09-2005, 07:28 PM
no the v8 wouldn't be THAT much heavier than the v6... the only reason that it would handle weird is if it raised the car up....which i'm sure it won't it would just have stiffer springs and everything...

ok, then why list the parts as V8 or V6? are the V8 parts much stronger?
example:
Strut Tower Brace (v8): $price
Strut Tower Brace (v6): $price?
are they in the end the same part? or is the v8 1 stronger?

ok, so if i get a kit that lowers 1.8 inches for a V8 is should lower a V6 1.8 inches aswell then correct?

no, if you had a v8 with a v6 suspension your suspension will be compressed more, and probably really bouncy and the shocks could bottom out or something, but if you have a v8 suspension on a v6 it will be a little higher then with a v8 and it will be a little stiffer then if it had a v8. go for it

Well if you think about it... the cast iron V6's are pretty much the same weight as the aluminum LSx's. The car would most likely sit the same height as it would with the V8 in it.

I disagree.
The V6 suspension IS softer, but because it is meant for more of a daily driver car.
The V6 and the LSx motors weigh about the same. So that weight issue doesn't exist.

in the end i will prob have spent more then 35k / 40k on it and thats with me selling off old parts to help pay for new parts... i wanna be ables to smoke any car at any time on any track / course.
and yes, im willing to spend the money on a 1000 hp to the wheels car as long as it remains street legal and i can get it to give me atleast 24 mpg. (still looking on ways to do that).

And.. you plan to pay for all that how? Heck, if I were gonna spend that kind of money, I would just go out and buy a used Corvette.

Well even over the course of a few years, it'll still cost you about 15K a year. So, unless you've got some good get rich quick scheme, then you better go ahead and start savin them pennies.

i will only need help with the engine, and im looking at a 5 year kinda thing, when i have every thing, im gonna rent a car for a month and some sort of shop and then i will just strip my camaro down to the bone and rebuild... donno if i can complete it in 1 month, but im gonna try like hell if not then i will shoot for 2 months, but while im waiting i am gonna have all the shit stored in a public storage.

Dude. I don't mean to rain on your parade or anything. But a 1000hp on a streetable car is near impossible. Nevertheless. I'm guessing you're planning on some supercharger, or most likely a turbo system. In that case, you shouldn't even bother with a crate LS7. I'm guessing the LS7's bottom end is rated at 700hp at best. Not to mention you're going to need a low compression engine to handle an incredible amount of boost. A 1000hp engine would be a 100% custom job.
Pertaining to the v8 suspension on the v6 body... I was going to do a v6 to LT1 conversion on my Camaro. But some f-body experts told me that the v6 front suspension geometry is very different from the v8. Different not only because of the weight issue, but also due to the clearance of the motor and such. I don't know for sure, but that is what I was told.
Good luck with your project.

did i say i was putting in a ls7 crate? if i did, sorry, im gonna start with the ls7 block and go from there, it has to be bored and sleved, it will need to be totally reinforced, and then all forged internals will be added, and to be exact with the system its gonna be a twin turbo set up.

the only difference between the 2 is the power load they can handle and the speeds they are rated at because a 6 wont have much power as a 8 the 8's stuff has to be rated a bit higher.... its all in how much stress the parts can take.
