i just replaced my head on my 88 b2200. and when i started it up for the first time it sounds like a diesel engine. is this normal does it go away. or is somthing wrong.

i just figured it out. i have a performance cam. i think it has somthing to do with the shims that the cam came with. did any body els have this problem. i put the old cam back in and no noise. i email the guy i got the cam from but will see. if anybody could shed some light it would be great.
