96 Quest new owner

Hey all, I'm about to pickup a 96 Quest, the problem with it is one of the injectors or something in the rear of the engine is leaking gas, I can't see back there but the engine misses and the exhaust smells like raw gas, it also leaks gas out onto the engine, I can see it coming off the back of the engine looking up from the right side wheel. I can't imagine what would cause the injector to leak both inside and out like that, also the air box doesn't close right, it has a gap in the front, it won't quite close all the way, even with all the clamps secure, maybe its warped? I'm thinking maybe there was an intake backfire that caused all this, but the air box and intake show no sign of smut or smoke so I can't say for sure that is is related. I've been working on cars a long time, this one has me a bit puzzled. All comments welcome.
I got the van for a steal, I just hope it doesn't bite me on the behind!!
