I am having some confusion as to the replacement of my front strut bearings. The mount kit appears to cost almost twice as much as the strut. Are just the strut bearings replacable and the mounts would be re-used? Any help would be appriciated.

I have had to replace my strut mounts twice on my 99 Camry.
Both times it had just been alligned. I haven't figured out yet
how an allignment breaks the mounts.
I'll go somewhere else next time.
The part that breaks is the rubber inside the housing allowing the
strut to clunk when going over bumps. I've never seen the bearing
fail. If you get a clunking sound then the whole housing needs to be replaced.
They cost less on the net, I got mine for $55.00 ea.
At my local Napa they were more than $100.00 apiece.
Hope this helps you
