Talk about luck.....

So I was driving home from my girlfriends house today on Alligator Alley in FL. I was cruisin in the WRX for about 20-25 minutes hauling ASS behing this white Chevrolet commercial truck. We were truckin doing about 80-85 ok, not hauling ass but we were movin ;)...the limit is Min. 40 Max. 70. So we are movin, I am behind him about 8-9 car lengths...enough for me to stop.....all the sudden on the right side on the shoulder are no joke, 9 FHP and an unmarked Mercury Maurader.

Allow me to give you guys a background on my car versus a plain white truck. My car is PURPLE with 5 different color pearls and a silver metallic. Okay, this is Vibrant to say the least. Its a 2002-03 model year with a 04-05 STi front clip..scoop and all, lowered with a 3 inch exhaust, headers back...and they don't even touch me!

Was this just because I happened to be behind the truck? I don't get it...I get hassled all the time just because its a Subaru WRX, even when the car was silver and bone stock. Any thoughts. Just curious.

Its called going with the flow. ie, if you're speeding to go with the speed of everyone else which means you dont hold up traffic, which going the speed limit would do. Happens to me all the time.

Sidewayz- No, 85 is not hauling ass...but I cant afford any more tickets. Getting thrown out of my car and into a squad car once, which did in fact happen to me is enough to keep my speed limited. And yes I have maxed out my speedo many times. And yes I probably have received more tickets than your age! lol

I crested the hill south of Denver one time at 100 mph(limit:65), and just as I hit the top I see a CHP car with a radar gun aimed right at me. Holy crap. He didn't move an inch. All of the traffic was moving along at about 90-100, so I figured he was just waiting for someone moving at an unbelievable pace. I sure did feel lucky that day.

P.S. Why did you post the minimum speed? :p

luck is cool. I found a dollar on the street a week ago. And I found 40 bucks in a hoodie I hadn't worn in months. And I found 40 bucks in in a pants pocket. All in one week. thats some luck talk right there.

I was doing 110~115 mph one time on I-90 (60 limit), and just as I'm coming up over a hill, there's a WASP (WA State Patrol) on the right, sitting on an on-ramp, tagging people with RADAR. Instantly, my radar detector goes apeshit, and I jam on the brakes to slow down as quickly as possible (quickly slow down... weird). The great thing about this whole incident is that JUST as I am cresting this hill, I am passing a huge semi on the left, and it worked out that at every point in time, the semi was directly between me and the fuzz, and he didn't pick me up.

I don't know if the WASP even saw my car at all. I always envision him looking at his radar and seeing 113mph, then looking up and seeing only a semi doing 60 and deciding that maybe it's time to calibrate the radar... I'm sure he just saw the semi's speed, but still, that would be pretty damn funny.

Needless to say, though, I did the speed limit the rest of the trip.

85 is not fast. I do 90 in 70 all the time ni my Escort. Haven't been hit for speeding yet. If your going with the flow of traffic, then cops not pulling you over isn't lucky, it's normal. 20+ tickets is fucking stupid, any way you look at it.

I didn't say 20+ "speeding tickets" now did I? LOL. yes, this thread is wrapped around speeding, and yes most of you implied speeding cuz of it, but no...I'm not that stupid. lol. Anyways 85 isnt fast...I just felt lucky thats all becuae of the sound and appearence of my vehicle. My chances of getting pulled over were very likely.

I got one for 75 in a 65 out in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming last month.

It's the fact of 20+ tickets, regardless of what they are, when your 21 (my age), is pure stupidity.

Soooo, because you didn't get pulled over cause your car is *bling*, you're lucky? I have several friends with WRX's, STi's, s2k's, JDM Civic's, etc., etc. Guarantee'd more *bling* than your WRX, but they get pulled over rarely because they drive with respect to the rules of the road. Maybe you don't understand these rules and that's why you feel lucky, I don't know. But if I was the cop, and saw a Lamborghini(which is WAY more attention catching than your WRX) doing 85 with the flow of traffic, regardless of the speed limit, the only reason I'd pull him over would be to ask if I could get a picture of it.

We are all "car guys" here so I'lll let the "IDIOT" slide:) I live in Boca Raton for Fall, Spring and part of Winter for school and cops there are complete assholes. I don't think I'm the idiot here, and neither are you or anyone else who frequents these forums. The tickets I have racked up in the 4 years I have been driving have mostly been taglights, tint, exhaust...I did look up my reccrds and the 20 plus is very exxagerated! lol I do drive with respect, I don't blame you for having rich friends...you just kinda came off as a snob when you said that, thats all. I am chill, lets just move on with our lives. BTW, I was lucky:)

Oh, Tonio, I used to live in Ohio, and I got a crazy ass story just like... whoever it was...

I was late for work, like every single day, and I was weaving through traffic, and I went around this van into the fast lane and punched it, got up to 90 as I was passing the van and saw an officer under a bridge looking directly at me and pointing the radar gun at me, I SLAMMED the brakes and was down to 65 in about 1/2 second, (maybe not REALLLLY a half second, but shit... it was fast slowing down, if you ask me)... as I passed the cop I looked at him and saw him giving me the eye and still pointing the gun at me as I drove by. Not sure if that was a scare tactic, or if he was just trying to catch me. Either way, needless to say I went the speed limit for the next half mile, until I was out of his view, then I punched it again. And still got to work late.

then there was the time I got a ticket. Delivering pizza with a pizza hut sign lit up on top of my car, doing 55 on the HIGHWAY, which was 4/5/6 lanes depending which area you were at, and the speed limit was 40. I know its 15 over, but seriously, where he was at, he could catch people doing 80 ALL day long. But he pulled over the pizza guy for doing the normal speed.

I got a buddy that drives a deep purple Mustang GT. I think it looks badass, and he loves it.

Well if you want a comparison to the color. Its quite similar to the Midnight Purple as found on the r34 Nissan Skyline, but a little brighter due to many pearls and the silver metallic. And yes, I have seen those purple on the Mustangs...kinda similar to that. Its a badass color, so whoever doesn't like it....Don't get your panties all in a bunch, cuz it's not your car. And also, I am pretty natorious around my parts for having odd color cars. My 1st car was a Cyber Green VW Turbo Beetle. Dammit, I loved that car!
