Hey guys whats up? I need some help in picking my FMIC. I have my safc2, 560s, fuelpump, all ready to install and now im gonna order my FMIC. Now ive been looking at building my own, but it would be too time consuming for me as i work 60 hrs a week and i go back to school in 3 weeks.
1) Ive been looking at conceptillusions FMIC for 510 shipped. Here is the link: http://www.4g63.conceptillusions.com/
Ive ordered from there before and there MBC was pretty decent for 15 shipped. The FMIC is 20.0 x 9.0 x 2.5 inch. Im guessing the piping 2.5
2) Now this other guy on tuners is selling FMIC setup that he gets (hes the middle man). The price is 500 shipped. Its 31x11x3 with 2.5 piping. Here is the site http://www.dsmtuners.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=27147&sort=1&cat=7&page=1 I asked the guy if you had to cut the bumper or cut out the fog lights and he said no. which is a big plus because i dont wanna do more work and i wanna keep my fog lights.
So what do you guys think? is 2.5 enough? The second option FMIC looks a little big for my goals, but the price is the same as the first one.
Once again, thanks in advance guys!!

Of those two I'd go with the second one. That kit appears to have a better core, as well as everything else needed to install it.
However, I'd highly recommend looking into buying a core by itself and doing your own piping. It can be much cheaper than a kit and you can route the pipes however you want and KNOW they fit right.
Check out these intercoolers - http://www.alienauto.com/intercooler_22x9x3.htm ->> Perfect size IMO and quality core at a very nice price.
www.johnnyracecar.com ->> also very nice and proven intercoolers at an awesome price.
Also, you WILL have to do some trimming of your bumper, and your fog lights will be a very tight squeeze if they even fit at all.

I would deffinately reccomend buying a core and doing your own piping. It will save you alot of money. Also when i did my custom piping all i needed was two u bends with a 5 inch radius and one 90 degree bend. I got them at summit. Cutting down the pipes to fit took me an hour at the most. It was very simple.

Okay so i just got the cors and my buddy knows this guy who does piping for $150 so all in all i saved about $75. Now the core requires the bumper to be cut and the fog lights stay, thankfully. Anyway, now exactly how am i going to trim the bumper? What do i use and what do trim?

I already tried to buy the first one a while back but they are on back-order for a long time. The second one is a cheap one from ebay that is actually just a radiator made to look like a intercooler.

metalhedskater: I've seen the picture ($500 option) used on ebay last week. i wouldn't trust that at all. thats not his picture!
2.5 is plenty that flows. If i wern't drunk i would run upstairs and grap a book and plagorise some stuff about intercooler effency and Equations for that evo 16g turbo you have. you know you need to find an intercooler that will support that turbo at +75% effency. Hopefully 80%+ but who wants to pay those big $. We have DSM, we need to save our $ for a nother day.
<Edit, sorry im trashed.
