how to get to the 12's

I would like to get every ones idea of how the best way to get the 3k vr4 into the 12's. even if you have not done it but you have ideas list them. i think that i would start with the basic intake then get a boost gauge and controller run it to about 14 psi. then i would go 3" down pipe no cat and y split into 2 1/2 in pipe. then i would go fuel pump, injectors, air/fuel regulator, ngk plugs, wires and turbo timer to keep every thing safer. then i would get some dr 500 turbos, water injection, large front mount intercooler with n2o spray to cool the IC

i think that with the right tuneing would get you there nicely

Well as this has been discussed a billion times, searching would be your best bet. But in general, it would depend on how deep into the 12s you want to get.

A well running car and a pretty good driver can hit high 12s with an intake, downpipe, gutted precats, and boost controller/gauge at 14.5psi

Getting lower can be done with tons of supporting mods and nitrous, but most opt for larger turbos, injectors, AFC, and fuel pump.

If I were getting a catback, I wouldn't go smaller than 3", but it seriously isn't necessary unless you are looking for 11s. Yes they will add a bit of hp, and but our stock vr4 exhausts are already 2.75", you don't NEED to upgrade them to hit 12s at all. The most restrictive parts of our exhausts are the front half...not the catback.

Anyway, everybody has their own route, so we can't tell you what to do, but there are some mod guides in the FAQ to give you a general idea.

If you cant hit 12's with the setup you just decribed I would sujest the next mod be driving school.

has anyone ever done a single turbo vr4?

I know there are single turbo fwd 3kgts out there but has it been done yet with a vr4?

you actually dont even need a downpipe. With just an intake, MBC, and gut your precats, and launch a 1.7 60' you will hit 12s.

As far as a single turbo, they are not very effecient with our cars. I think IPO proved that when he went from SL-T to SL-TT and ran better times with the twin set up.

I would stick with twins, but you can go big single if you want. It would be one hell of a freeway monster.

Any idea what its times are? and any proof of it? Not doubting, just wondering if there is a record we dont know about.

I was under the distinct impression that 9s hadn't been hit yet. Although I do think there are some guys on 3si that will soon if they get their DR1000, DR1200 cars running right.
