This ones for drvngstorm... he knows what i'm talking about... here are the specs off the cam i have in my 305...
GM Stock Cams
Model Number .05" Duration 1.5:1 Lift 1.6:1 Lift Lobe Sep. Notes
14093643 202/207 .404/.415 .431/.443 114.5 87 350,305man
10088155 179/194 .350/.384 .373/.410 109deg 87 305 auto
10066049 207/213 .415/.430 .443/.459 117deg 88-89 350,305
10111773 202/207 .413/.428 .441/.457 114.5 90-92 350,305
The underlined one is the cam i have, the worst of the worst. I believe the call it the "peanut cam" i guess because it's so small. I was wondering what these specs would be for an LT1 cam, which i'm getting later on this week. The cam change would net me some decent hp increase, i read and article some where, stating the this is the weak point of the 305, i guess along with the heads.

Yeah I have heard good things about the swap. I dont know what the increase would be...maybe 30 hp. But for the stock heads I think it is supposed to max out or come close to the limits of the stock heads. I was gonna do it too. A buddy of mine was gonna give me his original cam for 20 bucks. Ive heard that its the lt1 camaro cam from 94. But i dont know if they differed from year to year. Decent swap if your keeping the stock heads.

Yeah, stock heads for now, i can't afford to get some new heads along with everything else right now. I was thinking the cam and rockers would do some justice.

Too bad a stock LS1 cam wouldn't fit. :icon16:

he he.
A 90 degree Satruday afternoon, a torch, die grinder and a 30 pack a beer, and it'll fit.
Might not be all that functional, but she'll fit

I posted , incase anyone is in need not making a thread listing my items. There is a difference and I never removed someone's post for respoding to someone looking for the item but I guess you make a valid point and I won't do it again til we have the classified's up.

Unfortantly we were without a Admin for a long time now due to them being busy as hell with school and Igor with the skyline and racing. So Igor just appointed a third active admin to start taking care of things but unfortantly after 6 months of backed up requests, our subforums aren't a priority.

WOW!! The lift on that thing is superior to mine. That will do some justice then. As for springs, are there any particular ones i should get, my stock ones are most likely tired out by now (81,000 miles), and it wouldn't hurt to change them since i'll be in there anyways.

Well, Roller rockers would be a good way to go, Proform makes some decent priced one's for 87 and later TPI's. Also if you want to get a little more lift out of the LT1 cam for a few more pony's you can use some 1.6 versus the stock 1.5 ones.

Word, this is really gonna wake up that 305, does profrom make valve springs aswell?

Proform doesn't make valve springs to the best of my knowledge but there are alot of good choices out there. I would contact Comp cams tech line or summit and give them your specs and see what they recommend.

Does proform have a website? Wanna see how much they cost. So i just call up summit or comp cams and tell them the specs of the LT1 cam? Good thing you post that list Formula. Btw, port n polish, you can do this you self? I saw the kit on jegs for like $40, i would like to do the intake, plenuim (sp), and runners, which i assume would help increase flow activity, right?

Summit sells them. Yes you call summit and you say I have a 87 305 TPI, I plan to install a LT1 cam , specs are , which springs do you carry that would work best with this cam and some 1.6 roller rockers or your stock rockers. Which ever you plan to use. Then they will recommend something for you. You can also check with Comp cams they make a nice assortment of valve springs. As for porting, yes you can do it yourself but the thing is you want to practise first and either get a book or video on it and study up. Don't just plan on getting the kit and being able to port right away. One tiny mistake can cost you, your engine.
