screwed up tranny??????????????????

I was traveling down the interstate late one nite, a little boared, and
decided to see how fast my 93 lude would really go. since there was noone else in sight I down shifted into fourth and gunned it! after I pulled up to about 100 or so I shifted to fifth and proceeded to about 130 or better where i held it for about a minute. when I exited the interstate and came to the first light, my car started to act a little wierd
comming off of first gear. by the time i made it home i could only get the car into fourth gear where it is stuck now. and if that isnt weird enough... fourth gear really isn't fourth- neutral is fourth. If i try to force the stick into any other gear, i hear terrible grinding sounds and sometimes smoke from under the hood. I can drive the car somewhat normally in fourth gear only. any comments questions or suggestions......

Hmmm shift linkage somewhere maybe?

:iagree: Definatley start at the shift linkage. May have bent something, or possible the linkage is kinkied and in a bind. (if it uses cables and not the rods)
