Door Lock Stuck in Unlock Position

Problem: Driver Door lock stuck in unlock position
Symptoms: Electrics work, lock works with panel removed but becomes stuck in unlock when panel is snapped back into position.
Question: Do I have to place lock in a certain position before snapping on panel?
Need to fix as door won't lock.
