1997 Buick Lesabre Shuts off when running

Hello Everyone,
I've been having a re-occuring problem with my 1997 Custom Buick Lesabre that My mechanic cannot figure out.

I will be driving at any speed during any type of weather conditions and all of a sudden my vehicle will shut off. When I pull off to the side of the road it will generally fire right back up but on occasion it will take about 5 minutes and then start right up. Unfortunately my mechanic can never get the vehicle to stall when it is hooked up to his computer so it never gives him a problem code. I did recently have a M.A.P Sensor replaced but that was obiously not the problem. Can Anyone help me?

I am not a mechanic and have limited knowledge when it comes to vehicle repair. It has been suggested to me that it is the Crank Sensor but I would like a little affirmation before just pulling out and replacing parts. Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Nick

I had my 97 stall like this. It may be a ground problem. Does your dome light dim when you hit the power locks? Does the starter take a bit to get up speed when you turn the key? Mine died when I held the window switch too long after the window was up. There is a ground stud on the right side on the fender well by the battery. Take the nut off and clean all of the terms.

Regards

Dan

i haven't noticed any dimming of the dome light and my starter doesn't seem to hesitate but i will check out the ground as you suggested. thank you

How are you doing with your 97? Find anything?

hi
it happened to me. in my case i thought was alt, fuel line clouged, fuel pumb faliuer, bcm.
but it was the postive cable in bat terminal was all build up on it,
you need to check that , remove the pos<+> cable off the bat, then take the red terminal rubber sleve off. clean all copper flat ends.

It ended up being the crank sensor and has been running fine since the middle of August. Thanks for your interest
