99 golf gearbox issue?

Hi guys, I have a 99 Golf 1.6SR 5 door, i think there might be a gearbox (5 speed manual) problem starting, is it ok for the gear stick to move up and back when the car is is gear?

You problably need the shift cables adjusted. If that doesnt fix it than there might be something messed up in the transmission.

When idling, clear distance between any possible bumpers, try to lightly force the thing into 2nd gear. That will tell you if its "synchronizers" time or not.
