Nevertheless, RIP.

R.I.P. never knew about the cancer.
I saw a bit of an interview with him in April where he went public with his illness......he put much of the blame for his poor health on decades of smoking cigs. He never complained about it, though, very calm and professional.

He will be missed, IMO he was the best news anchor.

Oh right, I knew it was "Jenn" something...

I don't really watch the news so I can't say I recognize him...

I was going to post this thread but someone beat me to it. Good to know someone else has a broad view of the world and the people in it.

I just wanted to say that Peter was more than just some news anchor. I'm 23 and I grew up in a house where he was on every weeknight. Whenever there was breaking news, I was never satisfied until I'd heard it from Peter Jennings. He was informative and trustworthy in my opinion. Journalist of his caliber don't just grow on trees.

These days the news is so troubling, and it's put on cable and the internet with glitz, special effects, and an emphasis on how quickly the news can be delivered. There seems to be some personalism, trust, or human connection between the news anchor and the viewer that has been lost.

His passing on represents the passing of an age of great journalist.

Jennings was the bomb.

Couldn't watch Brokaw because of the funny way he talked, so I always watched Jennings.
