Can I fix this P0601 code?

First...what in the world does it mean? I know its fault name is internal self test, but what does it pertain to? And can I fix this or is this only something a dealership can fix?

I think it means that the internal PCM FLASH memory where the PCM stores its parameters (DTCs, etc) is bad and corrupts the data. It seems to be a hardware error and so it probably cannot be fixed by the PCM software download.

Diagnostics say replace PCM.

however, I just reloaded the newest software into the old PCM, and the P0601 code seemed to have gone away. This is in a 2001 ram-1500 p/u with a 3.9L engine.
