ACC fuse

my Acc fuse keeps blowing.. no matter how high of a fuse i put in it.. how should i check to see whats wrong.. the car is a 89 thunderbird with the v6... my guages dont light up anymore..

Above all, DO NOT PUT A HIGHER RATED FUSE IN PLACE OF THE ORIGINAL RATED FUSE!!!! The fuse is there to protect the wiring in your car. When you use a fuse with a higher amperage rating then was originally used you risk burning up a wiring harness or your whole car!!! I have seen and replaced many melted harnesses because someone tried to use a higher rated fuse. You need to determine what electrical loads are connected to that fuse, which is where a schematic comes into play. The schematic will show you where all the connectors are to unplug loads from this circuit. After removing all loads from this circuit replace the fuse and reconnect one load at a time until the fuse blows. This will tell you where the problem circuit is. You then have to trace this bad circuit until you find the short. Alternatively, you can remove one load at a time until the fuse doesn't blow but you end up using more fuses! ;) Go to your local library and ask for the Mitchell electrical manual for your year car and photocopy the schematic. Suspect any aftermarket circuits (radios, amps, lights, etc) that are connected to this fuse first.
