There is a guy in town that is selling a powerdyne supercharger with all componets for 1000.00. He just sold him s-10 and sold t with out the supercharger. Question is, how hard is it to install a supercharger on my 96 4.3., and also is there any way to tell if a supercharger is bad or good. It came off a 2000 4.3 pickup. I want to put it on my blazer. Any help would be great thanks.

It should fit on yours no problem.

No real way to tell unless you install it.

$1000 is a great price though.

So BlazerLT do you know how easy it is to install this, or should I have a shop do it.

I know alot about engines and have done alot of work on engines. Most of the work I have done has been on carborated engines. I know all the basics, have all the tools. Just never installed anything this major on fuel injection.

If you don't know, don't do it.

Have someone who knows help you or have a shop install it. They will be able to set it up properly and can test things right there.

you need a new intake manifold, and a new possibly special belt size, other then that its not that difficult if you can work your way around a wrench, and know what i mean if i would ask you for a torx bit...

The kit will usually include all that.

i know, but this sounds like a used kit, which will work just fine, but im forwarning to the fact that not every one is as honest as they should be when selling used parts

Yes that is what I am worried about, and I am not about to throw a grand on something I don't know works. So right now I am conteplating.

well if you can get the intake manifold, blower, belt and computer, then your all set, if any of those is missing, you dont want the kit

A thousand bucks is a great price for a supercharger; if it works and has everything. Obviously. I got a quote on one for my 4.3 and it was a little over $4,000. Which isn't really worth it for only +7HP. They shop also said it was 75lb/ft increase though. but only 7HP? $4,000?

FUH-GET-A-BOWT IT!

4k is about right for a new sc on a 4.3, the 7 horses is way off, but the price seams about right... and i noticed in you sig that you want 4.3l upgrades, the best one is a 5.7l 350.. second best costs a thousand more dollers, and the guy that you got your quote from doesnt know what hes talken about... willis

Found this link online that says the HP jump could be up to 50%. It is a 7psi boost. Not 7hp boost.

Found two or three other sites selling this kit for roughly $2500 shipped new. Not too bad but way outta my range for a Blazer anyway. Would rather buy a used 3rd gen Camaro and play with that instead.

Don't wanna sound negitive about this
I don't know too much about Supercharges, but..........

Would you not damage the internals of an engine by slapping it on there as is?

eventually, if you over boosted, you could distroy your bottum end, but, if you, and your machanic realize its a STOCK Bottum End, and give it 5 to 8 lbs of boost, you will be very happy and get a lot more horses, Now when/if i boost the 350 im putting into my truck, because of its heavy modification, i have to put a more mild cam in it, dished pistons, and of corse the new intake, but i was after high compression when i started, and our moters arent high comp, from the factory
