black crap from exhaust

When I got my crx a couple months ago I immediatly went to work on the body work every weekend or so to get all the rust/body work done myself(Not driving it much). Now I have painted the car finally a few days ago and the silver looks great. It has come to my attention that I am burning oil and black smoke is coming out, not too much but just enough to be annoying. I was wondering what I could try to stop my car from smoking and burning oil so that I won't get anymore of that black crap on my shinny new paint job. Thanks for your help :)

White smoke with a blueish tint indicates oil being burnt during combustion. Black smoke usually means you are running heavily on the rich side(too much fuel).

Your Cat Converter might be getting to old. Mine did that for a while then when I put my new Converter on it stopped and I never see anything come out anymore, even when it's cold out.

I'm not sure if its a black or a white w/blue tint but I do know that black crap is being left behind so must that mean that black smoke is coming out and I'm running to rich? Can I adjust something to run it more lean (I have mucho experience w/carbs but I don't know anything about FI)

I think running rich means you have a bad O2 sensor, it's the cylindrical thing sticking out of your headers.

running rich can be caused by a number of things, but yes check the o2 sensor

Baha this is weird... I haven't checked this site out in quite a few months then when I do...well look one of my old threads :D. So what I had done is gut the cat and I had custom 2.25" pipe run from the cat back with a new muffler and the smoke hasn't been nearly as noticable or bad (note: this wasn't done as a result of the smoke). I haven't checked the sensor but I suspect it is a wee bit old, 196K miles on it :D. I had my cousin follow me once and he said that it only shoots a little smoke when I shift or really get on the gas hard but other than that its clean. Btw my "shiney new paint job" is already looking like shit (uncle doesn't know how to spray clear) so I'm looking at having someone else paint it again this summer maybe a charcoal grey this time.
