OK, i know that everyone knows about this already and that theres info in the FAQs, but my question is, Is it bad for the car/turbos? Are there any ill effects whatsoever?

no its not bad, the only thing the free boost mod does is remove the nipple in the boost solenoid. Both boost solenoids are exactly the same in first gen and second gen models except for that restrictive nipple in the first gen models. Once the nipple is gone, the wastegates on the turbos are now capable of flowing 2nd gen boost levels of around 11 PSI instead of first gen levels of 9. This is not bad for the turbos because they are the exact same turbos on all the years. In fact, most people buy a boost gauge, a manual boost controller and turn up the boost to 14.5 PSI (but no more on stock turbos and stock fuel components due to fuel cut and tiny ass turbos pouring in hot air).

With the right size turbos and fuel components, and race gas, these engines have proven to hold over 30+ PSI in the engine, so they are tough, you just have to watch out for spinning rod bearings which generally occur from failure of the oil pump. The stock turbos are a beast too as far as durability. They can easily last over 100,000 miles.
