99 Contour stalls

I've got a 99 contour sport 24 valve. It stalls sometimes while driving ,even at a high rate of speed. It starts to shudder and then there's nothing when I step on the gas.( feels like gas problem) I have to coast to the side of the road ,wait a minute or so then proceed to start it and all is well .
What could be up.???????????????????????????

I am having the exact same problem...i mean the exact same thing....i am now so scared that I dont even want to drive my car..what did u do to help ur car...or what suggestions have u got...please respond....thx

id start with the fuel filter. Its easily located near the passenger side rear wheel.
