91 lesabre 3.8, after about 1 hour of freeway driving car feels like it is getting to much gas. When I push on the accelerator too much(hardly any pressure) the car loses speed and if I keep pressing on the gas it will die. If I pull over for 15-20 minutes it is okay for about another 30-40 miles. I just had the injectors cleaned but it did this the time previous to having them cleaned. Water level stays good oil has just been changed and transmission fluid is full and clean. At night it seems to run fine. I would be grateful for any ideas that anyone has. Also, I don't smell any gas when I pull over to let car cool. ????

Any codes? You can have codes stored without a check engine light coming on. Something on your car (probably electrical to do with getting fuel to the engine) does not like heat. Have you checked your throttle position sensor? It's a varible resistor that changes resistance as the accelarator is pressed. Also, a loose connection or corroded one will get worse with heat. A 91 is old enough to have a bad connection. What about grounds on the vehical? Check and clean all of them.
Without seeing the vehical these things are tough to figure out.

Peeps,
If I remember right, vapor lock is when fuel gets hot in the line and and changes to gas from a liquid so the (mechanical) fuel pump can no longer pump the fuel to the carb. If I am right, a car with fuel injection and high pressure fuel pump (found only in cars with injectors) will not vapor lock. I am on my way out the door, so I can't research this now to be sure, sorry.

I was having the same problems with my 98 lesabre for the past 4 months, but mainly in hot temeratures but sometimes high humidity. My check engine light was on and I was told that it was just an auxilary emissions control and that it could be one of many diff things. I changed my gas cap--first thought was vapor locking--and nothing. also changed the radiator cap. I was going to change the thremostat but found out I had a bad MAP Sensor. If you have this on your car, check it to see if it is good, it cost me 55 bucks after a few choice words screamed alongside the road waiting to restart the car.
