ask some questions about it

I found it browsing autotrader even though I have my sights set on a 98-02 3.8 for now. I definitely don't wanna get stuck with a 5.7's gas and insurance payments through college. I'll be spending all my money and more on the car itself.... so I can't even afford the gas, not to mention insurance jumps from my '97 4 banger

the cars more than likely got a 305..

does an 87' V8 really cost more to insure than a 98' V6 there? if so.. thats messed up

no way, a 98-02 v6 is way more than an older iroc or z/28. for me a newer v6 was gonna be like 3500 a year, but an 87 iroc was 2000.

Yeah it's a 305, it's only a 5.0 with 165 HP.

i maybe wrong here, but either there was a diffrent hood on that car and he put back the stock one or he had an accident and had to get a new one... lol, look at the back towards the t-tops... there are the red stripes down the car... but they dont continue down the hood... maybe he has a half paint job but i doubt it, something is deff up with that.

To give you an idea of what the insurance jump will be like...

My friend went from a 95 Sentra to a 79 5.0 Mustang GT and it cost him $100 dollars a month. (in florida)

my 97 v6 with 1 point (4 points, but 3 got knocked off... i dunno if theyre still on insurance points tho) runs me around 400 every 6 months... then again im in NJ, that would prolly be 200-250 every 6 months in other states.

99 Z28, $680 a year, but that's mostly due to my age (37 and married)and the fact that we live in a rual area.
In answer to his original question, I guess that's not too bad of a price, but like someone said before, the car has been repainted at the least. Seems to be a 5.0, but has a 91-92 Z rear spoiler and stripes, but an RS type hood. I'd beware and ask a bunch of questions and drive it first.

Where?

that would be the price for a 97 with full coverage. lol, 2k / yr for a 3rd gen for just basic = i will be driving around with no insurance... even tho i dont live in cali and dont know what it would be here for a 3rd gen, i will find out very soon what it is on a 4th gen 2000 - 2002...

I mean where in Cali........
But insurance sucks........

stepho

Insurance where I live sucks because of the damn "no fault law." The law basically says if someone runs into you, your own insurance gets to cover you. Since I live in tourist central the collision rate is extremely high. Due mainly to tourists getting lost, and tourists from other countries that drive on the wrong side of the road, oh and the drivers from South America that have an international license but have never driven a car before...

but hey this is paradise right? :banghead:

Glad I dont live there, that law would make me get a Silverado 350, with a rollcage on it and a huge ass grill bar like those that can bring down trees with ease.

Old school Hummer.......

one of those mercury lead sleds... im not sure what they are called but there is one in the movie gone in 60 seconds, the one with flames all over it... with more metal work to make it heavier and stronger... total out someones car and drive with a scratch and maybe a broken head light...

btw i would be crashing into ppl all day long if that was the case ("no fault law")

Rally Sport
08-09-2005, 03:13 PM
Im sure there's another law that will stop people from doing that.

$447 per year FULL coverage. AND I do have a certified appraisal vouching the car is worth a minimum value (17,500) for insurance purposes, so I don't get screwed if it gets totalled.

Insurance goes up for everyone involved in the crash. Pretty much every crash unless the one of the cars is immobelized goes unreported.
