big lose of power running lean help

hello i got a 93 toyota pick up in colorado and it moved there from maryland and the owner told me when he moved that the truck had a lose of power i live in oklahoma now and i am woundering if any one knows what is wrong i also pulled a spark plug and noticed it was running way lean..does anyone have help? i was also told it could be the O2 censor any one no if that is true?

Yes O2 sensor is a good place to start... We are talking about the 22RE (2.4L 4Cyl), right? They need to be replaced every 60K I think - They Indicate O2 present in exhaust and the data (a voltage reading from 0 -1 volt) is sent to the EFI Computer... There are a bunch of Sensors for EFI.... - Grab a manual and start playing....

O2 sensors help in th fuel economy, not so much in power. Check the ignition timing, and adjust if needed. Bad ignition timing plays a big part in power loss.

Hi i'm new. My 94 4x4 22re gets bad gas mileage and is underpowered. Just rebuilt the engine completely. Even added a torker cam and cold air induction. Checked the timing about 3 times so far with te1 and e1 jumped. Engine runs exactly the same as before the rebuild. My shop has a Snap On Modis scanner, when i hook it up to read the data while its running it gives me very erratic readings, even sometimes looses communication then regians it. Anyone else have this problem? Possible computer?
