My h22 just recently started sounding like a quiet diesel engine. It get a little louder as it revs up. I know I have a blown head gasket and I've been trying not to drive anywhere. Does anyone have a clue as to what would cause my baby to sound like a TDI jetta?!?!?!?

is the head gasket for an h22 seriously $140?? I called a local advance auto parts, and they told me $139.xx, and on top of that...they don't even have the repair manual at the store. Can anyone direct me to a walk thru of replacing the head gasket, or should I just say f it and take it to the mechanic. On top of that I don't know how to set the timing, and from a few pics i've seen, the timing belt needs to come off...is this right? and can anyone help me out?
This is just making me more pissed off the more research i do...someone please help!

ok, buy a helm service manual, www.helminc.com (http://www.helminc.com) that will have step by step instuctions and pics, with torque specs. and yes HG's arent cheap, but you could prolly do it yourself with basic tools and a torque wrench.

thanks green. Am I gonna have to readjust the timing after pulling the head? or is it even possible to bypass that?
